Ok, so i did a part search, and found a listing for a vlsd from a super-hicas 92 240sx without abs. I ordered if from the junkyard, and it came in today. Condition looks decent, no bruises or anything. It included the full pumpkin too, which makes me happy cause im lazy and dont wanna swap internals. Anyways, i think that it may not even be a vlsd. There is no orange "viscous lsd"sticker. It also has a little spout on top which appears to be poorly capped off with some metal fitting, which i can easily rotate by hand. Isnt that where the abs would connect? I wanted a non abs one. Sorry, i dont know how to post the pics here, they are on my website. Please take the time to look em over and tell me your opinion. I dont want to put it in and find out that way. Thanks

Easy way to make sure it's an LSD:Spin one side and if the other turns the same direction your golden.....if it's the opposite direction then you have an open diff....

####, are you sure this is true for all vlsds?I guess the junkyard screwed me over on this. I told the guy specifically what i wanted and he said yeah, thats the one.WTF now im pissed:angryfire They spin opposite directions. What about that nipple on top? what is that for?

This is the reason why i want to set aside a day to go to a junkyard so i can actually see what i'm getting. I would've even trust places that say they have a 240sx hicas vsld. Because they know they can lie to you, but if you ask for a 93 J30 'diff' you'd have a better chance of it being the real thing. Sorry that happened to you, I'd send it back with a time bomb inside.

Positive. I'm not sure what that nipple is for...I think you'd have a better chance on e-bay than junkyards that sell parts online. Don't worry just send it back get your money and go LSD shopping....If I see one online I'll post it here for you. Sorry that happened to you though, you live you learn....ya know!

This exactly what I have.....5 bolt axles and all....However make sure you e-mail him before you bid and ask about actual condition of items....I have had to chase down an inner CV boot so far and it hasn't been too easy yet. Those gears would be great for you...I'll let you know how the gears are when I get it in...

http://www.pdm-racing.com/prod...e.jpglook at that pic. Its off of pdm racing. My diff is idendtical to it. heres more pics at the bottom:http://www.pdm-racing.com/products/sspecials.html

I talked to a guy who said that there is probably not enough load on the diff to cause the output shafts to spin same direction. Hes got a crazy nice s14 and knows his stuff.

A R200 casing is a R200 casing they all look the same, its whats inside that counts. They probably did a cross reference and just sent you a open diff and thought nothing of it.

Definitely an open-diff differential. No doubt about it.
