EDIT! Can a mod please move this to the gaming forum?I didn't realize we had a very active section of the board for just this purpose!

Thank you!

Yeah, yeah, whoop de doo, I just got a PSP after months of deliberation (and Nintendo influence from Mark). So far, I have to say that I love this thing. Its a PSP3000 that I got used from Gamestop after they learned'd me some knowledge. They mentioned that it had internet capability, Skype, and could be made to use AIM and other cool things. What are the other fun things you can do with a PSP other than play games, watch movies, move music, and use the internet (which I haven't done yet)?Is there a good forum that anyone can point me to?

You can use Skype with the DS.

As for the PSP, you can use it with a PS3 but I am not sure what exactly you can do with it...

You can hook it up to your PS3 and play it on an actual TV, and I think its easier to download games from the PS3, or at least demos. I don't actually have one, my cousin is just pretty nerdy for his, he just got the new MGS Peacewalker demo, pretty gnar indeed.

Frap, you should probably spend most of time exploring p0rn, thats the best way to use it. Also, i take you never moved out to Idaho?

You actually don't need a PS3 to play the PSP3000 on a TV, you just need the video out cable (hooks into the miniUSB connector on top).

You can hack your PSP pretty easily these days, enabling you to run emulators and lots of homebrew.

PS3 link lets you swap PSone titles from the PS Store between PSP and PS3. There is a growing library of classic PSone titles you can purchase straight from your PSP, through your PS3, or on your PC that are playable on the PSP. Unfortunately, the PS store is kind of clunky...but it has improved a lot lately. You can also access media from your PS3 remotely (via wireless internet) through the PSP, so if you have movies, etc. store on a PS3, all of that can be streamed to the PSP on the go as long as you have wireless access.

The PSP browser is meh. The text entry systems are clunky, making it tedious to use. But all it requires is a wireless connection. The DSi's browser is much better thanks to the touch screen.

Go get God of War: Chains of Olympus and LocoRoco 1 and 2.

you will definitely want to hack your psp, because emulators are fun but the homebrew is endless. People have made so many different apps and games for you to use.

http://pandorasales.com/ go here buy a pandora battery and memory stick and hack it. Best thing you can do. You cant beat downloading free games. All the psp, nes, snes, genesis, gameboy, gameboy color, gameboy advance, ps1, and nintendo 64 games. Just go here http://pspiso.com/ and research a little. Its not that hard to do i did it and I just have basic computer skills.

Does the pandora battery work with the 3000?

I know it didn't used to, but I haven't payed attention to if the 3000 has even been hacked.

PSP games kinda suck (Unless you are into RPGs). I think I use mine as much for SNES as I do PSP games. So far the only games I have really liked for PSP are Manhunt 2, and God of War... Killzone seems decent but haven't played much.

They did finally just release GT for PSP, I was just playing it now... but I am only about 2 minutes in.

Hacking the 2000 at least is f***ing cake. You need the battery, then you run a program that formats your memory stick and reboot.

Sadly. Hacking makes all the difference, though.

And the two locoroco games make owning a PSP worthwhile even if you don't want to hack it. OoOOOOOOOOYYYYY!

I have a Sony PSP 3001 and sadly it's been sitting on the sidelines while I use my PS3 and PC extensively. I'd like to breathe some life into that thing but the downsized games are hardly a novelty now. From what I understand is that this particular model is not totally hackable, I think it's a semi-hackable psp, one that if I eff up might leave me bricked.

You could always trade it in for a PSP2000. You won't loose any crucial features, and you'll be able to hack it easily.

I'm still using my launch-day PSP1000.

I have a psp1000 too. dont support gamestop more than buying games. If you sell any game or system ebay is the way to go.

Yeah. Or craigslist or whatever. Gamestop pays crap for used systems, and charges a lot for them, so you probably won't come out ahead moneywise if you go with them. But you might be able to find someone with an 2000 model who is willing to trade plus cash for your 3000.
