So...this is my first post to the forums and I thought I start off by telling you guys about the little gem I picked up for $500.

1993 240SX 5-sp fastback, 91,700 miles on the body, roughly 51,000 on the engine itself

Needs: Thermostat, New belts, possibly a head gasket? Wheels and rubber (previous owner put ridiculous rims on the back and steel rims in the front), a few other assorted things like a new battery and spark plug wires.

I figured this was a pretty damn good deal, the guy who was selling this thing didn't really seem to know what he had. I'll have some pics of it on here tommorow.

What are some of the things technically or otherwise that are considered problem spots with these cars?

My suggestion is to browse the 240sx forums as much as possible. Please dont be like all the other noobs and ask a milion redundant questions. Search any questions you may have and search a few different descriptions of what you are looking for seeing that some of the members have trouble spelling and wording things so that they can be understood sometimes.Good luck with the project though and post pics.

you ***** getting a dirt cheap sx, that seems to need just a few repairs before you'll have a decent driver and nearly triple what you paid for it

I'll have pics a little later today if all goes well. It's been raining like all hell for most of the day, but there are occasional breaks. I'm at work right now, get out at 3, so hopefully by 5 I'll have some pics up...also have a buddy who has a wrecked KA-T, so I'll be pulling parts off of that in the next two weeks. Poor guy just installed the turbo and got a set of Konig Zero's with new rubber then wrecked the car...so im hoping that I'll be able to make this the cheapest KA-T build in history...if the turbo isn't toasted that is.

Allright! Gots some pics of the new ride. Didn't get any of the engine bay, it started raining too hard to take any more pictures...

Previous owner rear ended someone at a stoplight. The damage to the front is only chipped paint, but the fender is dented and scratched a little bit.

Better view of the damage to the drivers side fender.

Paint is a little faded in the back and the cat-back exaust isnt mounted properly, at least in my eyes...sticks out too far outta the back of the car.

Dent in the fender

Interior is dirty, but in suprisingly good shape.

Engine bay pics coming as soon as the rain lets up. In regards to rust....I really thought that I would find some in the wheel wells, around the edges of the door...but I've found nothing. I'll have to double check when I clean the car up a bit, because for a Michigan car, it seems like there HAS to be some rust.

I've been wanting another Nissan ever since a 93 Maxima I had a few years back. The whole deal fell into my lap a few weeks ago and I've been in love with it since =)

The old owner really had no idea what taste was, I mean, look at those back wheels and the muffler...but in the next month, I aim to change that. Thank god for tax returns!

What's wrong with Konigs? Too ricey? Is it just a matter of personal preference on your part? What else would you suggest?

They will look like poop, get wheels that will fit better 17 or 18x8^ but offset is the key, +25 and down. check the wheel fitment thread.

Im going to put it on a lift and check it more thoroughly, but I couldn't see any...complete and utter luck or poor observational skills? We'll find out soon enough....

probably you didnt look hard enough.... the carpet looks wet, so you probably got some rust and a hole buy your feet. check under the passenger seats as well. Dont forget to look at the rails and in the wheel wells, in the creases.

for some reason i think those rear wheels would look real good if the all matched and had some stretched tires and the hatch was slammed. IMO...buuut still i prolly wouldnt do tat. anyways you got a good deal be sure to search first before you make posts, alot of people ask things over and over. +1 for checking for rust by driver feet area

It goes into the garage for a complete checkup on Sunday. While I have it up on the lift I'll take some pics and we'll find out the rust situation.
