Hello everyone. Let me tell you a lil about myself and then we'll get to the good stuff, mod's sorry if I'm doing this all wrong.

Well my name is Van, I am an airmen in the United States Air Force and I am stationed at Dyess Afb (Abilene), Texas and I am now a proud owner of a 1992 Nissan 240sx. I currently drive a 2002 Mazda Protege RS (ES) with headers and a full CAI system, MagnaFlow exhaust, and it's an AT , but back to my 240.

During the Labor Day weekend I went home (Tulsa, OK) with a buddy of mine and we were cruising the strip (yes we have one and its actually pretty popular) and I had ran into some of my old car club buddies. One of the new guys was rocking a 240sx and was not stock. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it was a SR engine? (it had a red top that said turbo) (im a newb so shoot me) That's when it hit me, I want to build me a car and from the ground up. I later decided I wanted a 240sx too, but just like many I want to be a Skyline wannabe ( no offense just easier to explain).

Well when I got back to Abilene, I started combing over craigslist to see what I could find. It just happened that I found a white 92 240sx shell listed for $400. I looked at the pictures and notice the area looked familiar. Come to find out the seller was also an active duty member and the car was parked at the auto hobby shop. I later talked to the owner and talked him to $250 and he was like, "you supply the cash, I'll supply the title," I was like sweet. Today came payday and you know how it is in the real world you have bills and I did my finances to come to find out I could spare only $175. I told him that and asked if he could hold it for me with that and I get a txt back saying I'll take the $175 and you can have it. I was totally shocked and ecstatic. So I later met Chris as Hastings and paid him and he gave some tips and the title.

That's how I came into possession of my 240sx for $175.

Now if it's not too much for you all to keep reading, I can tell you about my plans.

Like I said, I want to build this thing from the ground up, but that also has many definitions.

My plan is to drop a RB25DET into it. It's going to be a go and show car. Right now it's an AT but I will be changing it over to a MT. So far that just the very basic of what I'll be doing but there will be more put into it and I'm probably going to be putting a lot more money into this car.

Im not that suave with cars at all but thats why im doing this so i can learn. I will also be doing body work in and out and a lot more i bet. I do plan to make a build thread and its going to be a big and expensive and timely one but in the end result its going to be my baby.

below I have included some pictures. I hope you all will be helpful and insightful for my long road ahead. If you have any tips or questions or anything please let me know.

thanks again,

v/r,

Van aka TheFilipino1

Rough, but for $175 ya cant beat it! TAKE YOUR TIME!!

Dont rush into this RB25 thing, give the car what it needs THEN get the motor because its the last thing you should be concerned about with this car. Good luck & keep us updated

You stepped into the 240sx scene with a great deal but get ready for the long road ahead. Before you completely decide on an RB Skyline engine you will want to do some research and please take your time and think things through. RB parts are not as easy to come by than SR or KA parts are. When I started to get interested into tuning my 240's, I wanted to go with an RB26DETT but after learning more with weight, price, power output, and parts availability I wanted to go SR20DET, but now I happened upon a stock KA24DE with 70K miles and now I'm just going to Turbo that instead of the other options. It kind of depends on what falls in your lap sometimes.

I would like to welcome you to Nico! I would also like to "Thank You" for your service to our nation! I do suggest that you do a lot of personal searching and it is always wise to buy a Factory Service Manual for your car. It will be your 240sx reference and it is also available online as well.

Please keep us updated on your progress and don't forget to add photos when doing so. You will like it here as long as you do some work (searching) for yourself and ask questions after a little self education. Be patient because it will take time to build your car and learn what is what and what you want.

dang that was one heck of a steal i mean deal. congrats and welcome to the 240 world, it has its ups and downs but in the end it will make you a very happy man. research is key and nico is full of info, if you cant find the answers you want here then your asking the wrong questions. also get used to smarta$$ comments left by the younger crowd, you will learn to enjoy them and their antics. after a bad day i look forward to the rude/smarta$$ comments for a laugh.

Only $175? You've got a lot of spending room for participating in 24 hours of LeMons.

buying a car and doing all your own work is a hell of a way to learn, its also the best. Through all the BS and frustration when the car finally runs its so worth it. I'll never forget the first time i got my 240 running and i burnt out of the driveway and went around the block in it, then the ps pump went out and after that the car wouldn't start. Its to be expected you fix one thing and another thing goes wrong.

Hi, and welcome to Nico! Lots of work ahead of you. G/L.

Btw... is the cruise still on Memorial? At least that's where I used to cruise when I lived there 99-02.

That car is not a candidate for an rb25. That is a beater track car. Throw an sr in it and call it a day.

I've yet to get the car off base as of right now but ive found a friend with a 22 ft trailer and it should be off this week. when it get's parked I'll start my build thread and stuff like that.

but as of right now im going to keep my questions here.

First thing is the wiring harness is cut, clean, but cut. I was wondering if I were able just get an RB25det harness or do i have to splice the 2 together?

Also ECU wise, I probably need to get a rb25 ecu or can i flash the current one?

what do you all think?

Hey, I'm in Abilene oddly enough...anyway, you should check FM600 wrecking out and there's a couple of other wrecking yards out on Pine street. You might be able to find a harness out there. I was able to get a clean wingless trunk out there for $25 so they're prices are good. Do you ever go out to North 1st on friday and saturday nights? There's a few decent cars out there. I dont really go out and i'm usually on my R6 anyway but it's worth checking out.
