i did a compression test and got175178177175 which is pretty good for a 97k mile ka24e engine.

i have some type of problem with the engine at 2k rpm. i cant keep it at 2k. i used my hand to push the pedal lightly to get it to 2k rpm's and just before i get at 2k it will surge past 2k up to 2.5k. i cant get it to sit at 2k. no matter what i try to do it is not possible. i have replaced plugs, rotor, wires, dist. cap, coolant temp sens. cleaned maf, new filter, new tps, seafoamed entire system, new o2. have no clue why it is doing this.

second question: after replacing all of the above, i have this prob still. start the car, run and drive it around, normal operation temp, runs good, shut car off, start car up again while still hot, and the car will surge from 1300 rpm's to 2000 rpm's continously about 10 times. it goes up then down then up then down. i hate it. it drives me crazy. any suggestions are welcome.

heh, wish mine was still that good.

Have you tried resetting the ECU? Sounds like something in your electronic controls is on the fritz.

well if you disconnect the battery for 24 hours then yes i have reset the ecu many times. i still cant seem to figure out wtf this is.

ok, make sure the a/c is off and spray the intake manifold with carb cleaner to check for vac leaks.
