I am in the process of buying a 91-96 240sx. I have found a site (http://www.flashoptions.com) that has s13 silvia front clips for $1600. Has anyone done any business with this site before? I am on a slim budget($5000) so that is why I want to buy from them.

One more question can you import and register a silvia? I know they do skyline's, but I have not heard anything about silvia's. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You cannot legally import and register a Silvia, it's up to you if you want to figure out some less than legal way.

If you have $5000, that's a little more than a limited budget, that's actually pretty good unless you are going to pay a swap to swap for you. There is one guy who said he bought an engine from flashoptions, but it was his first post and not exactly trustworthy. If you want a good engine, we'll all still recommend a reputable company such as After Dark or Heavy Throttle on the east coast.

Actually, everyone cross their fingers I may have found a loophole in Iowa law that will allow me to start bringing over whatever I want. : ) ( hehe, well, in addition to engines and stuff, I mean like, whatever cars I want )

Dauttless, PLEASE keep us informed about that. I will sell both of my cars and whatever else I have to to get my hands on a REAL S13 Silvia K's.

Why would SCC lie about the prices of used cars in Japan? And if SCC is so lame which mag. do you prefer?

I'm aiming at R32 GT-Rs being between 20-25k with VIN assignment, but we'll see. : )

That's ok. I don't mind shady methods one bit. :)

Assuming it gets a VIN though I don't think they'd destroy it like some horror stories I've heard so if I have a run in with the law I can just sell it.

Besides if it has a VIN I can just register it here as a 240sx right? the only problem would be smog but that wouldn't be a problem really either. :devil

No, it would be its own entity, with its own VIN. I'm just trying to figure out the rules and governing regulations in each state, I can get them registered here, I just want to see what the restrictions are on transfering the title to other states. : )

Daunttless, if you can do it, I'll get it into California. I'll have it sold and registered to my friend in Vegas, then I'll have him "sell" it to me, and have it registered by a crooked smog tech here. Or I could just leave it registered by my friend in Vegas and just drive it here all the time.

Daunttless we will be able to get you to do gauge swaps right, you know km/hr to mph odometer and any other metric to standard kinda stuff, at a cost of course;)

it will come with a gauge swap : ), its part of the requirement for getting a VIN, so you don't have to worry, it will be in MPH

There's more then a handfull of GT-R's rolling around Florida. I've seen a R33 in Florida with a regular everyday license tag.

I hope you're not jumping to conclusions. I am VERY familiar with vehicle importation rules and regulations...getting around them is not as easy as it may initially seem. The DOT may seem easy to fool (and in some cases they are), but once the EPA gets involved, you won't get past them. Here's a link of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (yes national, it's not a state thing)...http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import/

Yeah, actually, thats why I have to see what states I'll be able to mess with. : ) It's not an easy process that I'm going through, it would be way easier just to legalize them the way motorex does and then I'd have 50 state distribution, BUT, I've run into some snags with that, so I'm trying an alternative route, I'm going to do a test R32 and then I"m going to start doing more if it works out. My state doesn't involve the EPA, just a vehicle inspector, I've already got all the requirements and then she'll charge me and assign me a VIN. Then, I need to see what states the Iowa title will transfer too, anywhere that doesn't have emissions will automatically be in. Then, any place that does have emissions I'm compiling a list of data on to see what standards I'll have to meet and find out what the "minimum" standards I can do and get the most states is, but for places like Cali and what not, I just don't think it will be possible. : ( Thats that, I'm very familiar with the importation laws Dori. : )

Yeah that's all fine and dandy but whats the status of your engines, when will they arrive? We need updates. Cuz I may just buy one off u when your shipment gets in if you have any extras.
