at least under $100 bucks. I came up with a few on tire rack. I like to go a little lower in series. Like 45-50 the most. I would do 40 but that would look goofy with my stock suspension and 16" rims... I don't want that much fender gap. I also live in New england if that helps but I don't want to put money into just winter tires...

So what do you think is the best kind for our maximas? Only reason why I ask is because I want to know what you guys put on and and if they were great tires for the price you paid. I plan on getting them off Tire rack.

The best ones I could find are... http://www.tirerack.com/tires/...ace=0

and Sumotomos. but the reviews for the sumos were kinda meh and the Kumho reviews said they get pretty loud after a few thousand miles and I don't really want that...

By this spring I will be getting them changed for sick summer tires and rims... but for now... I need something I can afford cause I am living on my own...

OE tire size on your maxima is 215/55/16.215*.55= 118.25mm sidewall height

Some things to consider with smaller profile:

Going to a 215/50/16 will give you a sidewall height of 107.5mm a little over 1cm shorter than oe. There is also a limited selection in this size. Due to the less common size, prices may be higher for the same tire in a more common size.

If you are concerned about fender gap, a shorter sidewall height will make any gap seem more pronounced.

You could consider going with a 225/50/16 which will give you a sidewall height of 112.5mm. It's closer to the oe sidewall height of 118.25mm and 10mm wider.

The ASX is a good choice for your price range. Have you checked out the Conti extreme contact. In the 225/50/VR16 size they are currently $78.00. I have not personally owned them, but according to the reviews people seem to like them a lot.

hmm... I like those conti's u showed me... They look good and seemed to get good reviews... The ADXs seem to lack in light snow from what I am seeing so I will probably look at something else... I never really liked Lower end conti's in the past so I will see what they can offer at higher end.

Do you think I could get away with 205/45/16s?

Cause Pirelli's look really sick and I heard such good things about Neros and how nice they corner and I knew a few maxima ppl that had them and liked them... They are a good price too...

The only thing I am not sure of is the width being that low. I am sure they will work but not to sure... Do you know what range gap I can stay in for tire width? Cause the site does not recommended any specific size to go for except the stock size...

A similar topic on this tire size was covered recently. It was concerning 240s, but maximas weigh more so it would be even more important in your case. You should check it out. zerothread/277561

That size is what people put on hondas an miatas. It is a pretty thin sidewall for a 16in. tire.

yah... now that I thought about it 205 is pretty small for a sedan... It did not really hit me until I used a tire chart calc... lol

IT says 215-265 is where my car should only be...

I think I am leaning towards the Neros because I am seeing good reviews on them and I like the looks a lot. The contis look good but I can't get road harzard on them so there is really no point in getting them if I can't have any type of protection If I am paying $400 dollars in tires...
