Yeah so I used to think my 240 was pretty quick, it sounded nice and could beat up on civics all day long.. I thought it was all that I needed for now... that was until tonight, when a friend of mine let me take their 3000GT VR4 for a drive.. Its a red 91 5psd, and I was instructed before I left, that the best way to launch is to bring'er up to 5k and dump the clutch.. well with my experience driving my RWD 240..it was hard for me to imagine not peeling out, leaving a big patch on the road... but ****, once I tried it, I couldnt get enough.. I raced mustang GT's, Camaros, boxters, and even a new C5 vette.. raping every single one of them off the line, with only the vette slowly running me down, and finally passing me, although not before giving me the thumbs up..

the acceleration of these cars is phenomenal, not to mention the handling due to the 4WS, and there is something so gratifying about tooling richie snobs in their porsches and jags, that makes driving one of these cars so much fun. I didnt get a chance to try against a 300Z TT, maybe next time. I know this really has nothing to do with 240's.. but felt like sharing anyways =)

You may wish to inform your friends that their transfer case is gonna go bye bye if they keep dropping at 5,000 RPMs. The Transmission is notoriously weak on VR4s and its a several thousand dollar fix. : ) Although they are fun except for that whole 4000 pounds thing. : )

yeah well the VR4's seeming obesity aside.. it would still beat your 240 in most performance and handling areas.. dont be too quick to bash a superior performing vehicle (unless its domestic)

And thanks for the tip daunt =)

I'm not bashing, i'm just saying it couldn't hurt the 3000gt's to be 800lbs lighter :)

oh well, AWD is nice but I guess it comes with a cost =\

personally, what I love about stealths/3kgts, are their interiors, I really like them alot more than the 240sx.. lower roof, and a more slanted windshield, much more sportscar'ish...

I think once my 240 is gone, I'll try to look for a Stealth R/T =\

you know why you can dump the cluth at 5k? well one its AWD, and two at 3500 rpms, it has max torque of 325 ft/lbs. No wonder you can beat nearly anything off the line. I on the other hand would not want to buy one of these for 2 reasons. Mitsubishi translated into english mean: VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX! i like to call them "Mitsubiatchys" instead. it is also going to cost about 10k or so if ur lucky to get a good used vr4 of the earlier years. I would rather drop an SR, do some suspension and engine mods with the rest of that money, then beat or keep up with a vr4. Im sure that would get more looks than just a stock vr4 would.

orange i take it you don't drift? i think i can say for most people the love for their 240s is in the fact that they are RWD...sure AWD is cool but once you want a little more than straightline racing you'll remember how cool your 240 was. a friend of mine has a Stealth twin turbo AWD nitro 100 shot...runs 12 flat.....i also have a friend with a S13 redtop swap running 50shot nitrious which ran 12 flat on slicks. pretty much the same mods on both cars. you know what happens when a $7000 car and a $30,000 car race and run the same times? the $7000 car wins...hell the $7000 car wins even if he keeps up...same reason you like beating the porsches and jags.....

and for the record....i don't dig nitrous

The real race car is the one that can go fast both on straightaways and curves. We all know a well prepped 240(sr20 motor with new internals and T3 turbo) can win a 3000GT on both, and at the same time waste less gas. On top of that, mitsubishis have a history of being unreliable.

I know not many people care about gas especially when you race, but just making a point on how well of an engineered car the 240 is.
