You should try a Boston Dog from a street vendor...they might have some soy based or veggie dogs.

Really, that is all I remember from my trip to Boston...that and the pair of button-fly Levis I bought.

I hope none of you asssholes turn my consideration for her vegetarian diet into another bashing thread...surely you have gotten that out of your system!!

You ask this with the World Series starting at Fenway on Saturday? Dear lord!Well, you probably can't get tickets, so go to a pub (are you legal?) and drink away the curse of the babe!

My friends and I would give a right nut to go to a World Series game but I don't think a couple of thousand bucks for tickets is in my budget for the trip. :p

A couple of friends who are locals tell me that the duck tour is really cheesy. lol

I'll definitely try the Boston dogs if I can find a vendor that sells soy dogs.

What about museums? I'm really into art - particularly impressionist, surrealism, and art nuveau (sp?) Any good collections?

There's plenty to do in Boston. You didn't say what you want to do.If you're into car related stuff, F1 Boston is an impressive indoor gokart track. not kiddie stuffIf you want to do touristy stuff:There's the USS Constitution, the Boston Tea Party ship, The Bunker Hill Monument, and on and on. Fanueil Hall is pretty cool, lots of shops and little eateries, but it's become pretty commercial.Fenway is definitely the place to be, you might be able to get scalped bleacher seats for a reasonable cost.EnjoyLots of great pubs around

hmmmmm what to do in Boston?

Welll depends what kinda stuff you wanna do... if you're down for drinking and having a good ol' drunken time, why not go to a college party someplace? If you know someone who goes to school there thats great, but since you're a bunch of girls I doubt you'll have ANY problem getting into something. As far as what kinda scene you're lookin for, you can take the green B line t train all the way to Packards Corner, walk behind the super 88 market (EXCELLENT asian food there btw, its like a food court with all asian foods-- REAL good) anyways behind the market there are all the Boston University Frats: check out Pratt street down there on any weekend night and its guaranteed to be filled with people. Otherwise for a more chill relaxed drinking envoirment without the frat boy funneling scene, check out the MIT "frats" over on beacon street and Mass ave. They're right next to the Mass Ave bridge on the boston side, on beacon street. They have their flags coming out of the side of the brownstones. Much more chill there, but they always have kegs and live bands which is cool. Plus whicked smaaht guys. If you're into artsey freakey-deakey hippie type crap (think 20 year old tall lankey kid with long hair w/ beads in it playing the guitar, try a Emerson party over in the theatre district near the Commons.

Besssiiiides partying (really thats what you DO in boston), check out the duck tour, walk though the prudential building (there is a mall underneath)-- duck tours actually start at the prudential building (call it the "pru" when you're in boston to sound more local ) so you're good there... uhmm if you're into shopping DEFINETLY take a walk down Newbury street. It's the next street down (towards the river) from the prudential building. They have all kinds of nice shops and expensive places to eat there.. gucci, armani, indie record stores, etc etc.. plus it's a really pretty place. Very nice and expensive cars all over the place as well. Uhmmmmmmmmm depending on what night you're gonna be there if you REALLY dont feel like partying, the landmark theatre (a movie theatre in landmark circle, about 5 blocks west of fenway park -- take the green A B C or D line to kenmore and walk past fenway) has midnight movies where its only 5 bucks to get in and they show older movies like charlie and the chocolate factory, the lost boys, terminator, etc etc etc. Its fun cause the place is PACKED and they do extra stuff like throw t shirts out to the crowd etc, and everyone is all loud, making fun of the movie or whatever. A good time if you dont wanna drink.

OK OK. NOW. more stuff. If you have a fake ID but you're worried about getting caught (which you SHOULD, in boston, dont even try because 98% of the places scan your card for verification), about 4 blocks west from the prudential building in copley square (any green line tran to copley) there is an asian karayoke bar called Q-Vin's. They never ever ever card, $5 cover, and drunken karayoke all night. Not a bad deal. Careful how late you get out though cause the trains close down around 1 am and theres no other way to get home from there unless you shell out for a cab.

Okay now that I've given you a book to read about boston... I have even more!

Theres a place called Jillians on Lansdowne street right across from Fenway that is cool- its 18+ on the weekdays and they have TONS of really nice pool tables, huge plush couches to sit on, big screen TVs, a club downstairs and I think they were actually building some sort of bowling alley around the time I left school up there. Anyways if you're there for a weekday and you dont/cant drink-- check out Jillians cause it's a fun time.

You can check out the aquarium if you like, (aquarium stop on the blue line), thats a fun place to go- and the penguins are freakin sweet-- you can shine this fished shaped light down on the ground and they all chase it around.... annyways yeah the aquarium is cool, plus its right there near the old boston stuff for sightseeing.

Okay seriously I'm done now. Basically there are two ways to have fun in boston: do the wholesome sight seeing deal, or a drunken fun fest where no holds are barred. Whichever you wanna do, make sure you do it all out!

Skip Plymouth Rock, I lived in Plymouth for 6 months and it's a disappointment.

Go to a Freindly's for dinner (or just for ice cream) - AWESOME!

Too bad you didn't plan a trip out to the Cape - I lived there for a year (as well) and it is SO awesome.

Candlepin bowling is a little off beat and something I've never seen outside of Boston and is a lot of fun. Similar to regular bowling except the balls are the size of a grapefruit, it's 3 shots to a frame and the pins don't get cleared between balls. It's also fun to do drunk (ahem)

The NewEngland Aquarium is very good. Been there a few times. If you have a car up there. The North shore is nice, with Historic Marblehead, (lotsa antique shops n' such) andif you're going around Halloween, you might consider a side trip to Salem, which is a mecca for that kinda stuff.I have a lotta family up there, Boston is a great place.

If I were back in Boston, I wouldn't mind showing you around but I'm actually in San Fran til Wednesday.

Since you're interested in the arts I'd say check out the Gardner Museum- it's nestled between Emmanuel College and Simmons College. It's also about a skip and a hop away from Fenway Park. The Museum of Fine Arts is an obvious choice since it boasts an extensive collection of works by artists like Dali, Franklin and Cusimano.

There's also the PEM (Peabody Essex Museum) which houses a fine collection of Chinese, Japanese and Korean Art.

You might also wanna check out the Coolidge Corner Theatre. Awhile back they were screening The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari, M and other famous German Expressionist films.

If you're looking for some fine vegetarian cuisine, there's a handful of restaurants on Commonwealth Ave. and Mass Ave that cater strictly to vegetarians. Chinatown is chockfull of cheap eats, there's a Vietnamese restaurant that offers a $2.99 bowl of Pho.

Also, check out Castle Island near UMass Boston. If you don't mind driving a couple minutes north of Boston, there's plenty of things like seeing the historical Textile Mills in some of the satellite cities.

There's plenty of other things to do Boston as well, I just suggest getting plenty of tokens because taking the lines are the easiest ways to get around. You'll find Boston is very charming and friendly city.

Oh and the Duck Tours are overrated. I'd rather rub my nuts against a cheese grater than ride those things again. LOL

Welp... just got in the door about 15 minutes ago. Had an amazing time.

Friday night we drove down and crashed at my best friend's place in Deerfield. Walked around this river and trail that kinda wraps and passes through his house. Really kickarse. Laid out in a huge open field and looked at constellations.

We went into Boston on saturday and let me just say that my bank account hates me. We went to Newbury St. and Harvard square. I ate at this really good Japanese/Korean restaurant right down the street from Back Bay station. Highly recommend it. For dinner we went to this cheap Mexican place near Harvard campus. The shops there are amazing and the Puma stores actually carry my size! Also EMS there rocks. I bought a pack and more hiking pants/socks. Weeeeeee.

The next day we went to Chinatown for dimsum (sucked *** for me because everything had meat). Then we walked to the New England Aquirium. I loved the HUGE tank in the middle. Got to watch them feed the fish and stuffs. Then we went to a sealion show and managed to get a kiss from him. Haha. Then we ate at Quincy Market aka Fanueil Hall. Good Indian food. Then we just got coffee and walked around and caught a movie (I Heart Huckabees) around the Boston Commons. GREAT movie. Go check it out.

Then yesterday we went out to breakfast with Ben's grandfather at this place in Walpole, MA. Good little diner. Then we went to the museum of fine arts. Spent hours there. The Egyptian and Asian art collections are spectacular. We tried to go to the Isabella Gardner museum but it just happened to be closed on mondays so we went to the Prudential center and ate at Legal Seafoods. Great service. Then we went to the Boston Commons. It's like a mini central park. I love the little bit of nature with the huge office buildings behind it. Then we went and had coffee at Harvard Sq again and hung out.

Just spent 8 hours travelling today. Pooped.

Thanks for the recos guys. Had an amazing trip.
