I am going to blow up Newark, DE

so i park at the shopping center on campus like i always do, that i've been parking at since last year. it's about 1/2 mile walking distance to my class and more convenient than the university parking lot, because i don't have to wait for inefficient buses, and be on time for class for a change

anyhowafter my afternoon class i walked back to the lot to find MY CAR GONE! at first i thought it was stolen, but then i noticed people standing around shocked, looking for their cars, and that the lot ( a huge lot) was awfully empty looking.turns out, this morning they towed a bunch of cars. and are demanding $150 to get them back from the lot. This is not Newark,DE towing cars, this is the shopping center's private towers. I AM PISSED! i talked with a few of the people and they said they've been parking there longer than i have, and that there isn't anyone that walks around and chalks tires to measure how long a car has been in the lot, and they couldn't possibly figure out if the vehicle belonged to a customer in a store.

so i'm stuck here, waiting for my mom to come get me and take me there so i can get my car back. ARGH!what worries me right now is if they ****ed up my car in the process of towing it, i.e. it's lowered, plus it's rwd, and i parked in the space tail-end first. it would be gross negligence if they towed it by it's front tires and messed something up. i'll sue! agh! :uzi

anyhow. wish me luck. and i'll repost when i get my car back:mad:

yes that is something you have to worry about... seems to happen alot that when towing a car that is rwd, the tower doesnt seem to know and ****es up the car like that

yeah hopefully it will be allright. i'm going to see if i can look at it, before i pay. or something. i'm not sure what to look for?

just tell them when you get there that if anything is harmed on my car, you will have to pay!

was there any sign that warned of towing? If there wasnt you could have a field day... (at least in cali)you could also ask how they towed it. that is if its not too late and u already picked it up...

thanks for nobody flaming me for trying to cheat my university by parking closer to my classes. i was expecting some backlash. (if you went to this school. you'd do it too!)

I don't blame you for parking there. I did it too when i was in college. The college sold like every 1 spot to 4 people. Totally insane and all the parking areas were like a mile or more away. Screw that.

Sorry about your car. I used to live in Newark ("New Wark") many years ago. Wasn't that bad a place to live. Is the Stone Balloon still there?

college parking sucks. I see no harm in your actions. Stupid fascist shopping center owners!:mad:

Seriously though, don't they have to warn you, or put up signs or something? They can't just say: Oh, you parked in the parking lot so now I can do whatever I want to your car.

Anyway, hope you get it back in good shape, I'd be super pissed if that ever happened to me!:(

I take my chances every time i park, but so far no tickets

i think the campus police are too lazy to go car to car... like colleges dont get enough money already with books that are an inch thick and cost 100 dollars...

Darn tootin'(bah humbug to censorship) stick it to the man! I'd recant my sister's story about how everyone in HS parks in the handicapped space w/o sticker until the day she decides to do it and gets a ticket, but I don't know if that'd help, since it really is nowhere near the same thing. Hopefully the car is OK

Ok guys, got my car back. i'm not pissed anymore. i guess i wanted to blow $hit up because the car was missing and i wanted to go get some food, and it was a hassle for my mom to stop what she was doing and come and get me (fortunately at this university you can park on their 'gold' lots--the ones close to everything after 4pm, which i was planning on doing.. except my CAR WAS GONE)

the tow truck people use a flat-bed and dollies for the wheels so the tires never touch the ground. no scrapes, nothing. i paid $105 to get it back. apparently $150 max fee that was on the sign applies to ***holes that cuss the tow truck people out or use threats of bodily harm. heheh.

also, the reason why 25 cars or so were towed was because one of the car owners made some threats to the owner of the shopping center (whom apparently was going easy on everybody parking there and wasn't reporting us--that's how i got away with this for so long) anyhow, this one bad apple ruined it for the rest of the students/employees using the lot and since the owner didn't want to single out the guy who talked smack to him, he towed everyone else's cars too!

so i need to find this one guy and set fire to his car.

P.S. Bubba, StoneBallon is still there, Newark sucks. it really does, i can't stand the atmosphere i guess. it's so floozy.

Sky, I had rented an apartment in Newark right after college. I know there's not much in Newark itself outside the UofD and the Chrysler plant but it's a major step up from Elkton, you know? It's also not that far away from things.

Good to hear you got your car back. I would of been UBER pist is someone towed my car. I've already had my tires slashed do to some prick... Ugh, some people just need to be slapped over and over and over.....
