I feel like Nissans are just not good cars. I just had my transmission replaced on a 2018 Rogue with only 43k miles. I started having problems with it around 40k miles but I was not able to schedule an appointment and they were giving me a hard time and saying that I would have to pay $130 diagnostic fee so I didn't bother. Last Friday when I left my house the car started making a really loud grinding and knocking noise and after a few minutes it completely stopped in the middle of the road. Then I had it towed to Nissan so they ended up replacing the transmission. It was all covered by warranty so I didn't have to pay anything.
I have had other problems with it too. The battery was bad last year and they were refusing to replace it even though it was under warranty so I had to argue with them for days to replace it. I have also had navigation/audio issues that I never bothered having looked at.
My friend has an Altima and he also had his transmission replaced a few months ago. My parents had Nissans and the transmissions were always loud and sluggish.
I am officially done with Nissan my lease is up in February and I will be buying something different.
Just thought I would let you guys know that even after so many years of Nissan using CVT they still have not fixed their problems.

Go to another dealership. If it’s under warranty, they should be covering it. Some people with the first generation, they could of had their cvt transmission replaced 3-4 times. Yah, kinda sucks doing it over and over. Unless Nissan changed the terms, everything under warranty should be fixed. :werd:

Can't say I disagree with the OP.

I've owned 30+ Nissan products. Aside from our Titan, the latest-model Nissan we owned that WASN'T a complete PITA was our '05 Frontier.

I feel like the decline has been slow and steady since the early 2000s.

The CVT-equipped FWD blobs have taken over. Sure hope they get the ship righted soon.

OP, you should've taken a look at my rant thread of disliking Nissan. I literally told my mother that I am going to trade her POS 2019 Rogue in for a Lexus in 22 months as a birthday gift cuz she never drove a luxury vehicle in her life. Nissan was being super stuck up and wouldn't fix the issues I am addressing, without me taking the Rogue to the body shop and having my insurance pay for this crap (they fixed my FEB issue but Nissan didn't). I still have many issues with our 2019 Rogue that I told myself lets wait till 2022 rolls around (our warranty ends that year) and sell that junker; caused me unnecessary stress and headaches due to the amount of electronic gremlins that it has and with Nissan being stubborn to fix the pieces of junk they horribly built. Honda on the other hand took care of me this year multiple times for my MDX which had issues that came out of nowhere (starting with TSBs followed by unusual noises). The only Nissan that I actually praised for being trouble free even though I crapped on it about being super boring and abused the daylights out of it was our 2016 Rogue. 109k trouble-free miles.

Honestly, look at Toyota and Honda as your next vehicle. Even, Ford is heavily discounting the Edge right now, and so is Acura for the MDX. Better to get out of the Rogue now than wait 2 months.

Then, the 3yr/36k mile warranty is pointless if they changed the terms.

That's why I was kinda surprised you gave the 2021 Nissan Rogue props. With your past history, I thought you be over nissan. :gapteeth:

Yeah, I personally was surprised too when I was saying we will get a 2021. I actually put the 2021 Rogue on my list of vehicles to buy. But then reality hit after visiting said dealership where a salesperson basically s*** talked about the competition. For a base SV on the 2021, I'm actually shocked on the amount of features being offered that cannot be even found in an equivalent Rav4 and CRV (not even available on the CRV Touring). I am still giving some hope for Nissan on the new gen, hopefully they fix all the issues that I have noticed on the 2019 Rogue, then that would sway me to buy one again, but to seal the deal, the OTD price must be lower than our 2019 (paid $24,991 in cash). Right now, I am looking at CPO Lexus ES, Ford Edge, Honda CRV, etc., as my up-coming work vehicle, since our latest vehicle was the 2019 Rogue. The interior of the 2021 is more up-scale than the current gen, and flows way better. Heck, even the infotainment screen isn't 240p anymore and placed at a higher location (that doesn't make me bend my head down from the road to look at the screen, an issue I have with my 16 and 19), and the 360 camera is standard on the base SV. Granted, I have to get an SL to get the shelf system which I really like about the Rogue (sucks it ain't standard no more). I have to wait and see how many members here reports any issues and problems on the 2021s in the next few months. Is the 2021 Rogue worth MSRP or Sticker? Hell no, it's still worth below that, imo, like every other new Nissan product. We gotta see where my money goes this upcoming August (I will be graduating in end of July). I only have 1 great customer-dealership relationship for Nissan and that's in South Florida; every other Nissan dealership in my area is horrible (one price-gauged my father for a simple oil change and tire rotation).

and thats the thing about Nissan. When i shopped for my 2019 and compared the 3 same models (plus the CX-5)...Nissan won. Nissan had the lowest price for all the features, with the assumption that this was the year Nissan Quality would turn around. Since 2020 was a year with really really low number of miles (March to October = 1,000 miles total) i am really happy with the 2019. The only electronic gremlin is the FCW light, but no crazy unexpected braking.
My Lease is up in Feb 2022 and even though i've had a good experience with my 2019...i am not going to take my chances. I really like the looks of the 2021 Rogue, but i will switch it up and even add the ugly Ford Escape to the options list. i will know more in 11 months.

UPDATE: So a couple of weeks ago I took my Rogue with the new transmission for a not so long trip to use up the last of my miles left on the lease. It was a total of a 4 hour trip and on the way back THE SAME LIGHTS CAME BACK ON that used to come on before when the transmission broke. I literally just had a new transmission put in in December, which was 3 months ago and it didn't even last 2,000 miles... Seriously? I bet if I kept the car for a few more thousand miles then the car would've stopped in the middle of the road again. It is safe to say that I turned in the car and will never be getting a Nissan again as I said before.

In fact I did not end up getting a car at all now, because I don't drive anymore due to covid. I work from home and I moved to a place where all the stores are walking distance so it didn't make sense to lease or buy a car that I will not be driving at all.
I did test drive some cars though such as a RAV4, Highlander, CX-5 and I think I only liked the highlander, because the other 2 were just not worth it. Price too high for what you get and the size was pretty small and not many nice features.
I also test drove the new 2021 Rogue, because Nissan was giving away $50 gift cards for whoever test drives a Nissan, but I would never buy one.

This is my first post and I am kind of split reading this post. I owned 2007 Nissan Murano (bought in 2006 Oct as soon as 2007 models came out). This Murano ran for 105K (almost) when my new teenage driver hit into a street lamp post and the insurance would not fix it and declared it a total loss because it is over 100K in miles and almost 15 years old. The cost of repairs does not justify the price of this old vehicle. I had no problems with my 2007 Murano SL whatsoever. I did maintain it well with all maintenance done by dealer for its life. NO CVT issues, no major issues. The only issue I faced was that the leather on the driver seat cracked and I could see that the leather was of low quality (compared to my 2000 Chrysler Concord LXi with 105K miles that I still own, its Italian leather is still in great shape and I took no special care for it. In fact Chrysler Concord stayed outside in all sorts of weather that my Murano did not have to bear because it stayed inside a garage).

Anyway because of the cost and Electronic Infortainment features I selected 2021 Rogue Platinum because I had good success with my 2007 Murano SL. What problems should I be researching before making my purchase? Also does anyone here knows what is the internet price of Security Plus Gold Preferred Extended Warranty with $0 deductible on a new 2021 Rogue Platinum? Lastly, what is the consensus or the market rate of 2021 Rogue Platinum FWD with standard solid color like Metallic Silver?

Yeah I I forgot to mention I also had a 2009 Nissan Maxima that I had bought used and it ran to like 125k miles before I sold it and I didn’t have any problems with it at all. So I’m guessing it’s a hit or miss? Or maybe they use different transmissions in different nissans ? I have no clue :(
For the 2021 I feel like it’s too new to know what kind of problems it would have because usually you don’t see the problems after a few years at least in my experience.

I have a 2015 Rogue AWD and I am not planning to get any Nissan after this car. Here is a list of issues I have encountered and I only have 37k miles on it:
1. A year after I got the car the whole head unit rebooted and had a "System Status : Update Failed!" message when I was driving down to Florida using the GPS.
2. The directional arrow on the GPS pointed downward instead of upward almost as if the map had inverted from top to bottom numerous times. Told dealer about that and they said it was
normal.
3. Lane departure warning and cameras stopped working a few times.
4. Stopped getting text messages on Nissan Connect
5. CVT transmission is sloppy
6. Security Light is coming on every other day
7. Noticed a lot of plastic molded pieces falling off the car.
8. Cant drive the car in reverse more than 10 miles an hour. ( If anyone else has this issue let me know or if it is just a limitation)
9. Nissan One to One Rewards are a joke. Tried to use at dealer and they said FU.
10. The service department experience as a whole was horrible. Didnt have much of a choice the nearest one was in Crooklyn so I avoided that one.

Don’t know if it’s a limitation, but I never needed to back up in reverse faster than a walking pace.

Any particular reason to go 10mph, just out of curiosity. :gotme

Reversing to get a parking spot before someone else gets it. That's what you have to contend with living in the city. I had no issues with my previous Honda or Toyota.

I had a 16 with 109k miles. The GPS is still not resolved in the 3rd gens as far that is documented here. CVT trans did get worse in the 2019 MY. Just Nissan in general overall during Carlos Ghozn era dropped in quality control and reliability.

Bought a 2021 Rogue in January. The wireless charger has never worked and the infotainment screen refused to come on one time. Stopped, restart the car, came right on.

Oh and one time the backup sensor audible alert just kept going off while just driving down the road. That's only happened once..... but it's been like 2 months. So....

Interesting that this was on my recommended list on YouTube. Very intriguing story about the "scandal" at Nissan with Carlos Ghosn.
