Well my SW20 MR2 finally arrived from Japan today and holy ****... It puts my SR swapped S13 to shame. It spools soooooooo fast and it powers out of the corners so well. I got back in the 240 after ripping around in the MR2 for a while and it was pretty depressing. It felt laggy and like a boat.

I bought the MR2 for some fun then to sell. But I am seriously considering selling my S13... I'm so confused on what to do!!

SW20 means the 20 valve version of the 4AEG right? If so I'd keep it as long as you can get it registered and such. Did you ship it over here as a track only car or something?

Oh yeah, pics!

SW20 is the model number just like s13, s14, ae86 etc....

they came with the 3s-gte engines which are turbo 2.0

Yeah its a 2.0 turbo. In Canada anything older than 15 years can be imported to be street legal. And this is a 1990!

That motor is roughly eqivalent to a ca18det on what it can do when souped up...

The 3SGTE was what powered JGTC Supras for quite awhile, until they switched to the NA 3UZFE from the Aristo sedan.

It's a truly great engine, undoubtably one of the best Japanese turbo engines ever. It also powered:

-All versions of the Celica GT-FOUR/Alltrac-Top Secret GT300 Supra Shop Car

it also has same stroke bore as a SR 86x86, my budy has one that he is swaping into a celica, there comunity seems to suck, there is very little info about the swap and everyone that has done it seems reluctant to help thats what he tels me.

The SW20 is indeed a very impressive car, but they have VERY touchy rear suspensions, can you say "snap oversteer?"

Honestly, if you can make a good profit selling the MR2, sell it. Then buy like 10 more cars and sell them. Then buy another MR2, and keep that one.

id keep the MR2, ive always loved the MR2, almost baught one myself just they are sooo inflated here in cincinnati its insane.

yeah and driving them, apperntly when u go into a turn you cannot let off the gas, you have to maintain it or your backend will lose traction and you are F'ed in the A.

I'd probably ditch the MR2 just because of how difficult it is to work on a mid engined car.

lol what a stupid comparison. the r34s ran vg30detts but i dont see anyone jumping to swap thoes in. no comparison can be made between a gt500 prepped motor and a stock one.

Yeah the praticallity of it leaves a lot to be desired. I'm going to sell it and put a bit more money into the 240.

I love the power down low... but once you hit 5000 rpm there is just nothing. In the SR there is still looots more power left.

Well, there's a way to fix the top end power in the KA, but we're still working on how. Might need a combination of an intake manifold AND cam fiddling. It can be done though.

Actually that is a thought that has been going through my mind as well. With the popularity of the S13 chassis increasing so quickly, (can't go to a Dairy Queen or something without at least one Civic-Integra owner asking me if I plan on selling my car) I have thought about selling my S13. I mean, I love this car to death, I put so many hours into it, but I love how MR2's drive. The 3SGTE engine is so solid and the car handles like it's on rails... I guess if I get a good offer I might be switching from Nissan to Toyota....
