I am looking at a 2007 Nissan 350Z Grand Touring model, with my trade in they are offering $29,000 out the door. Is this a good deal? Also the difference between the touring and grand touring seems to be the brakes and bigger/wider tires in the rear. Is it worth it to get the touring model from a performance stand point or am I wasting the extra money it will cost. The car will be my primary vehicle not used for racing etc. Thanks for any help you can give me!!! I have previously owned a 240Z, a 280Z and a 280Z 2+2. I am really looking forward to driving a Z again. I also drove a Mistubishi 3000GT for many years. Trish

Welcome to the club. The Z33 is a great platform to own. As for the differences, it's up to you as to what you want from it. If it was me I'd pay a little more for the performance aspect of it. If you get it be sure to post pics up of it.

The key words are " with my trade": If your trade is a ferrari, that if NOT a Deal. If your trade is an 85 pinto then it IS a better deal. So we kinda need this info to answer this question

Welcome to NICO!

Depending on what your trade in is I'd say that sounds like a fairly good deal. I'd probably spring the extra for the G/T package as well...

Yeah, what are you trading in?

You might be able to make more selling it on your own, depending on what it is.

Anyway, as for Z's, I'd buy the base, because IMO none of the factory options are terribly appealing, but I'm also very picky.

Base models still come with an open diff; what a waste of a decent sportscar.

If you can afford the GT model, go for it. Brembo brakes, bigger Rays forged, lightweight wheels, and minor tasteful aero? What's not to want?

Now if only they didn't have a hideously cheap interior and weigh so damn much....

Don't the higher-end models all have VDC though? AFAIK, at least back in 03 when the car launched, only the base model didn't come with VDC.

If I recall, it turns itself back on in certain situations, even when you disable that. I can always add an LSD, but I can't "un-add" fun-killing traction control driver assist nonsense.

Unless they all have it now, in which case, I dunno.......buy an '03 base?

Or is there a way to really and truly turn it off now?

Not that I own a new Z33, but I'd probly go about defeating that gay-*** traction control BS the same why I turn off the Galant's ABS; unplug that shiznite.

The GT is $29,000 out the door after the took off my trade in they say they are giving me $15,000 for it. I will definately post some pics once I get it. I think I am going to go for a manual transmission so I will have to wait while they get one in as the one I drove was automatic/triptonic.

My trade is a 2003 Mitsubishi Spyder convertable GTS with 43,000 miles on it. They are giving me $15,000 for it which is good according to kelley blue book.

Then that is definately NOT a good deal. That comes out to $44k, which is way way too much for a 350z, even fully loaded. At that price, you can get a fully loaded g35...

Oh, IMHO the difference between the Touring and GT is NOT worth the extra cost. You say this will be a daily driver and not tracked or even heavily pushed. As such, you probably don't need nor want the brembo system, which, as I've been told, can be extremely sensitive. So if you want a smooth ride and not jerk around everytime you step on the brakes, the touring will do just fine.

EDIT:I just did a quick "build your Z" on the nissan site, and the touring model with navi only comes to a bit over 35k... which is the standard price. If you want a really good deal, do what my bro did when he was getting his g35. Send an email to all the local dealers. Use one email to address all of them at once so they know they have a competition in their hands. Tell them exactly what you are looking for and ask for a quote. Be direct and don't let them push you around.

$44k?!?!

Don't pay more than $35,000 for a 350Z in any trim level. None of that crap is worth it.

You can buy a 2007 Corvette Z51 for $44k, lol.

See what CarMax will give you for your Eclipse.

It might be worth it to try and sell it yourself.

$29K +$15K= $44K you are paying sticker price. call around and you should save at least $3-4K. your out the door should be 25or 26K. Grand Touring rocks and is the best if you don't plan on changing anything. Plus your aerodynamics are better by .01. Good Luck!

I'm pretty sure you still owed something on the eclipse if the 350z is $29K out the door
