Thats right my fellow nerds and geeks. Microsft released an update today for the Xbox 360, which comes with Internet Explorer. I had heard that it was coming, so I was happy to see it added so soon. For once Microsoft did a surprsingly good job on it too. The navigation is really good, considering I am usingmy controller with a chat pad and everything works as if I were browsing from my PC.

Yes, this excites me. WANNA FIGHT ABOUT IT? :squint:

Been doing it on my PS3 for years :gapteeth: Plus, with a bluetooth keyboard/mouse set, everything gets pretty awesome.

I need to get a 360 for forza horizon though....

I used to browse NICO on my PSP years ago. Welcome to 2005!

On a lighter note, is typing on an xbox as annoying as typing on a PS3/PSP?

Oh it should've been done a long time ago for sure. I honestly didn't ever expect it to happen though, so it was kind of an added bonus for me.

No, it's nowhere near as annoying as either of those to type on. One reason being that you can use any USB keyboard with it and also the Xbox chat pad works fine with it as well. It's surprisingly easy to use and browse with compared to the other gaming systems i've tried it on. Heck, it's even better than my Logitech Revue(Google TV) that has it's own keyboard with a touch mouse built in.

I despised using the internet on my PSP, even though it was cool at the time.

When I had the xbox (which is now dead), I was sad that I couldn't browse the web from it, like I did a few years ago with my old PS3. It's good to know that microsoft is at least righting some wrongs, though.

How's the browser functionally? The PS3's browser is trash, and the Wii's even moreso. The PSP's is pretty terrible, too. I have the oldschool DS browswer with RAM expansion...it was useless. The 3DS browser might be the best console-based browser I've ever used, and it sucks (though the console does allow you to suspend games to browse the web--a great feature that the far more powerful, overpriced, overfeatured, under-gamed laughingstock that is the PS Vita bizarrely doesn't offer).

All of these consoles have memory issues, which will hold any browser back. Regular web content is a struggle, and Flash is just a joke if it happens at all.

I'm glad the PS3 finally released a native Youtube app so I don't have to fight with the browser to watch stuff on youtube. Also I finally get HD youtube videos on my HD console through my HD TV. What a joke.

Anyway, why would I browse from any of these things when I have one of these?

Oh, obligatory "Internet Exploder Sucks" comment. Because it absolutely, genuinely does.

So far i've only tried basic browsing and it's just fine for that. I honestly won't use it a ton, because we keep a laptop and the iPad in the living room, but it will be useful for watching TV and ect since we rely on Netflix, Hulu Plus, Hulu, and ect to watch TV. Other than that, I probably won't find myself using it a lot.

I personally do the majority of my browsing from a PC, but for basic stuff I pick up the iPad.

Internet Exploder does suck big ones. Considering we'll probably never see Chrome or Firefox on it, I can live with it. Some web browser is better than none at all.

It was a novelty at best for me. I'd rather try to browse on my old Kyocera slider phone than use my PSP.

Sexbox has apps for these already though, no? As well as HBO Go?

The update may be a few years too late, but honestly I never really felt like I needed it anyways. I just feel like it's an extra added feature that I wasn't expecting to have. I usually browse from a tablet or my phone most of the time, so I doubt i'll even use it much for that anyways.

I wasn't trying to say I was going to use the web browser for those - I was saying that I use those apps regularly on the Xbox :gotme

I meant that we should be able to access other sites for full episodes like CBS.com, USAnetwork.com, Hulu.com(because you can't watch some things on Hulu Plus), and ect. They have a ton of apps on the Xbox as is, but there's still some things that you just can't do without a web browser.

I was just about to post this. lol. but the ps3 browser is indeed pretty terrible, though I will follow that with "it's better than nothing." I haven't played with IE on my 360 yet. That's kinda exciting. Hopefully they were taking the time to get it right, which is why it's taken them so long.

and you NEED forza horizon. NEED.

I haven't tried bluetooth yet, because the Xbox doesn't have bluetooth built in. It may recognize a bluetooth adapter though. I just use a USB wired/wireless keyboard and it works just fine.

I am NOS_XenoN on Forza, but my Gold has lapsed, so I haven't gone online. This is the first I have fired up my Xbox in over a year. Halo 4 and Forza have fixed that for me. I found a gold membership on amazon for $35 so I'm ordering that today and will be back up and running soon.

Sweet! Yeah, usually you can run across memberships for $30-40 if you are patient. I'm planning on buying Halo 4 as well, but I didn't intend to buy Horizon until I played the demo. Halo has been the only type of game from that genre that I enjoy playing a lot and that my wife and I both play. She plays Gears of War too, but I haven't ever been able to get into the game or the multiplayer at all :couch
