ok guys need your help again.. my car has about 125xxx miles on it and i want to turbo it... is it a good idea with this many miles on it? and like i said im a poor kid who wants to turbo my ka how should i start this project if u even can...
my car has 124xxx miles on it.. I've ran 18psi from a t3 super 60, and 16psi from a gt35 and it still runs perfect...currently I run 12psi on the gt35...
all I did was check compression before hand... my engine has taken a beating too.. I take it 7k rpms quite often because the turbo keeps pulling. i've never opened the engine further than taking the valve cover off... so basically, yes.. it's a great idea to turbo it if it runs good.
ha 125000 isnt alot of miles, atleast to me that is, my 93 had 145000, and my current 89 has 157000, im still making good compression and mine runs perfect, and im just began the long haul of turboing mine today, so u got my vote! dooo iitttt!

Florida240sx wrote:Turboed mine at 174k lolWhat's your budget. Blowing up results in $$ towards the tune. A perfect system with a crappy tune results in a big boom.
I agree. Dont use SAFC-II!!! Go either Emanage ultimate or tuned ECU.

Pfft, for a t25 your probably not going to be pushing 10 pounds of boost, SAFC is cheap and damn easy. For your first turboed/tuned car its money. You can get a good tune out of a safc. Heck you can get a good tune with a wideband and some free time. Ultimately a dyno is best, but you can get it pretty damned close on the street with a wideband.
If you go over 10 pounds of boost though you do need a way to control your timing. Then a piggyback like Greddy's emanage or what have you becomes needed.

Put that money in a savings account because turbo and budget do not belong in the same sentence unless that sentence is: "I put a turbo on my KA and went WAYYY over my budget."

Or...just be real careful that you don't mess up.. Thats what I have been rolling on for the past 2 and a half years or so..
Just a little advice though.. Don't set a budget. Set a goal and spend what you think the goal is worth to you. I personally don't care if I spend all the money I ever make on cars.
"If I had all the money I ever spent on cars, I'd spend it all on cars,"
honestly im lookin at like (hopefully) 300-350 whp.... and i was thinking that the first thing i wanted to do is a brake upgrade to a 300z... i was reading this mag and this dude took a deisel turbo kit setup... for like 2000 total.. and got about 300 hp.. not sure if it was to the wheels though
