Greetings all,
Thank you for allowing me to join your group. I am reggaeChin from Jamaica.
I hope to learn from all you guys and whenever I can share my very limited knowledge here.
In Jamaica most vehicles are second hand imported directly from Japan. The Nissan dealer
here will not touch those vehicles so we are left floundering to help ourselves.
Thanks again ... and Nuff Respec.

ZD30 diesel engine with turbo ? Thanks again.

Welcome to NICO!
Unfortunately I have no idea where you'd go to get information on that vehicle. I'm sure there's not too many people on here that have it anyway. Your best bet would be to find something with the same engine and trans and see if you can find a factory service manual or other how-to articles.

Other than a (relatively new) NV200 forum, we really don't have a dedicated van section. Posting here in the General Chat section would be just fine.

Your profile says the engine has turbo, so I'm guessing it's the 3.0 L ZD30DD turbo I4 diesel, correct? It looks like we currently don't have any info on that engine. I was able to locate the FSM for the 2001 Caravan (E25). It's in pdf format, 24.5MB zip file. I can send it to you if your interested.

Thank you so much Rogue one and PapaSmurf for your replies.
3.0 L ZD30DD turbo I4 diesel, yes that is correct. the injectors are 0445110315 Bosch Common Rail Injector Nissan E25 16600VZ20A That model was discontinued in 2012.

From then on it is the NV350 (the big brother to the NV200). this model uses Denso injectors 16600-3XN0A same as in the
NISSAN YD25 DCi FOR D40 NAVARA EURO-5 E26 URVAN 2.5LTR

I have a specific question about those two models.... Can someone confirm that if you change an INJECTOR that the
engine will NOT start ,,,, unless you input the new injector compensation code ?
I live in a small town 2 1/2 hours from Kingston where should have someone with a scanner with the ability to program
injector comp. codes, so it is very inconvenient.
A follow up question, can someone recommend a OBD tool to recode injectors? an inexpensive model since I am not a professional
tech.
Thanks a lot again.

I'm guessing the "no start condition" after replacing an injector could be due to air being in the system, and the compensation code just keeps them open longer to help purge the air, but I could be wrong.

Unfortunately this site is mostly US based, and there's not a whole lot of diesels and diesel techs here.
With gas cars, we can sometimes add gasoline via the brake booster line so it gets directly into the manifold. The car will then start and run for a little while until you either have to add more gas via the line, or the fuel system finally gets purged and it can run on its own. I'm not sure if you can do that with diesel (maybe directly via the throttle body?), or if you'll end up pinging/knocking.

^ That was my thought. I know if I run my diesel tractor out of fuel, it requires a TON of work to prime the fuel system (removal of a hard line, pressurized container, purge the air, etc).

the reason that i do not suspect lack of fuel or air lock situation is because there are no injector firing pulses
from the ECU.
But still thanks a million for the feedback.

ZD30- The Good-The Bad-The Issues (How To Help Your Turbo Engine)
8. Have your inlet manifold removed and cleaned. We have seen inlet runners closest to the EGR almost 50% blocked.

I found a NISSAN Learning Academy ZD30DDTi book that someone scanned as pictures. It's about 69 pages that I've zipped into one folder that's just a bit over 8MB. I can send PM the link if you're interested. Here's pages 1 & 3 to give you an idea of what it's like.

rogue one... Thanks. but I already have that manual.
one more thing that engine was always starting... only that one injector was leaking on the
top, externally. Then I replaced that single injector.... that was all I did... then no start,
the ecu does not send pulses to the injectors. I read many articles that say the newer vehicles will not start with out recoding the injector.... I was hoping for a confirmation on this particular vehicle.
And which scanner unit with injector coding I could buy.
Thanks a million for your help.

Yeah, sorry... I think you're blazing your own trail here on this forum haha.
Have you heard if it goes back to normal if you re-install your original injector? It would be interesting if you could just plug that 1 back in (without installing it to the engine), and see if it runs on all the other cylinders.
Interesting stuff.
