I recently purchased a 2000 I30. The car has low mileage and is an excellent shape. When looking over the paint, I've found some small spots here and there. The spots apprear to be where a top coat got applied in excess. It's not really noticeable unless you really look close. I've also noticed however shiny and tough the paint job appears, it seems to scatch and nick very easily. I'm sure this is an original factory apint job. Anyone else notice these problems with their Infiniti I-30's? Thanks for responding.

Nissan paint is notorious for swirl marks and other imperfections. I know that the paint on the previous generation of maxima and I30 was particularly succeptible, in some colors, to problems with chipping and/or easy markings.

I would suggest using a professional grade clear coat cleaner. Something a "step up" from what you can find in the local stores. This should get the clear coat more uniform. Follow this with a couple of coats of sealer. Then wax it. That should make things look much better.

Hopefully Prinz will jump in here and offer you more detailing advice and product information.

I have a black 2000 I30t, and the paint is extremely soft. At 51,000 miles, the front looks worse than my Q45, with over 200,000 miles. Of course, the Q is silver.

I have had 3 Black Maximas, and they wer al lthe same, 1990, 1992, and 1995.

I kinda thought it was the black, since I ahve seen black J30's with similar problems.
