I bought this 1999 I 30 a week ago. A firestone mechanic told the seller he needed to spend $3700. to replace all sprockets, chains, seals, etc. The seller decided to buy a Honda civic. The real problem with the car was the oil pick up tube was plugged. I cleaned it and it runs great. This cost me less than $30. The engine didn't sound like a chains and sprockets. It sounded like a motor with no oil in it. My ? is. Is this a common problem with this engine. This is my first Infinity.

Welcome to NICO.

This is not a common problem with Nissan/Infiniti cars. In fact, this is the first time I've heard about it in an I30. Most likely has to do with extended OCI (Oil Change Interval) or just plain neglect by PO. Though you have fixed the problem, I suggest that you do and engine flush using BG Quick Clean or the likes.

Several members have had bad experience with Firestone shops. Better find another shop, if needed, thru referral.
