Does anyone else like old motorsport more than modern motorsport?

Like 60's Trans-am racing?

Or Old Targa Florio? Or old Class B rally?Or old... anything?

Im the only one I know who gives a crap about all of this outdated stuff... please tell me Im not the only one on Earth who thinks this way!

Same pic, yay!

Something about the idea of domestics taking corners at high speed makes me raise an eyebrow...

Edited... sorry :doh

But that eyebrow raise is exactly why I like it... also, if you see old films of the stuff, theyre sliding like crazy. Its just good racing!

old school rocks...

new school rocks too though

I think I prefer watching a Shelby Stang tear it up as opposed to an SVT Contour though...

exactly...

Old touring cars were so much cooler than the current breed. It kind of all comes down to which Id rather own... which is kind of a no-brainer.

I want to see some footage of old JGTC racing. Back when the KPCG10 was dominating... that would be sweet!

trans am racing was awesome. Some company was making a game about it that looked really promising. Like almost as good as grand prix legends was... anywho, it got canned :(

are there any trans-am racing games out there, cus the one i just mentioned was the only one i ever heard about

Old school rocks. None of this paddle-shifting-ultra-wide-soft compund tires digital shift light nonsense for me. Old fashioned racing with double clutchin', leaded fuel. working the suspensions in the corners, that's real racin' (insert Tim the Tool Man Taylor grunts)

i love old skewl racing. i was watching those Legends of Motorspots vids of the old ralleye racing when most of the cars were RWD and they raced on village roads in italy and such. mmmm, nissan 200sx sliding around turns :drool. and the old Can Am and Trans Am racing series kicked boo-TAY. and old drag racing too. its funny seeing the guys drive those old super stock class cars, with the full interiors, big *** 15" steering wheels, and wearing a tee-shirt & jeans & those old school racing helmets. damn what a good time to be alive.

Yeah, LeMans was a classic. Not much on plot, but the action shots were great. Same goes for the old movie "Grand Prix. The racing sequences were awesome for their time. Kinda ordinary watching them now, but the movie was made 30+years ago.

IMHO the current crop of racing movies are awful.Days of Thunder - Tom "I'm not gay" Cruise in a stupid demolition derby version of NASCARDriven: Yo Adrian, this CART movie sucks.Fast & Furious: Back out the bad dialogue, bad acting, dumb plot and it still sucked.

Le Mans isnt really short on plot... its jsut that they didnt want to take away from the intensity of the racing by adding some half-assed love story or controversy. It was supposed to be closer to a staged documentary, really. I like it that way.

And if you have a really good sound system, you NEED to get that DVD.

lol... I bought Bullitt just so I could dissect that car chase. the rest of the movie is ok... but the chase makes it all kinds of badass.

one of the coolest parts of the chase scene is the fact that the charger is stock and the mustang isnt. we were looking at that and laughed at the body roll of the charger and the narrow wheels, but when we looked at the mustang, we noticed it was running some wide wheels and it was lowered and had almost no body roll. damn, i want that mustang.

me too! Did you notice the rollcage?

Also, if you watch the portion where the mustang chases the charger down one of the hills, they both jump three times or so. When the mustang lands the last jump, it bottoms out and you can see a puff of smoke from the bottom- It broke the oilpan.

I also read that the mustang(s) had some modifcations done to its engine to keep up with the Charger. it was running a 351W to start with... add power to that... what a monster :)

I can take up for Days of Thunder being that it had amusing quotes, and Driven for not being the Fast and the Furious.

one of the better car related movies of late was probably the Transporter, but it really lacked on chase scenes even if the opener did rock (minus that damn part with the freakin' car hauler...).

the one from Bourne Identity could've been better if it weren't for the wretched camera work.:(

Ronin> anything else.

But Bad Boys 2 and Matrix Reloaded both had killer chase scenes.

so did "The Rock".

yeah, the rock was pretty funny...

there needs to be more chase scenes in movies now a days...

even in romance movies!
