Ok who is oogling over the superbowl ads of the "summer 2008" 300hp hyundai entry?Im not feeling the car bc of the manufacturer... but they sure did dump some money into advertising to the "18-40 yr old male" category

I agree with you on the manufacturer but you really have to give them credit for giving people what they want.

It hasnt hit the streets yet... and its a "korean" model they showed... When it actually hits the street or even the production line we will be able to take a better look at it... Looks can be deceiving though, and the tiburon should be a altima comparable... is it? i dont think it really stacks up...

also, when i looked at getting my 00 mustang in leather i decided to go with cloth because of the plastic feel... will that encapsulate the entire car? They have to skimp on something to be able to offer 300hp under 30k like that...

The Genesis ad was cool but... I want an Audi R8! That ad was sick! It's gimmicky but the LED's around the headlights... wow!

I'd still take the GTR over the R8, not to mention $40k cheaper.... If I could throw that kind of money around.

Ain't no hater dude..............just stating facts brother. Now if BMW had a badge on the car, it would be the same design with a different badge.......changes nothing. I cannot count how many designs have been ripped off by Hyundai. The front of the Genesis reminds me of a Lexus of sorts, the back a g37. I just would like Hyundai to make a real name for themselves is all.

I dunno, Hyundai has come a long way, that is a sharp sedan...my understanding is that the car will go for about 30-32k and will be a 4.6L V8 offering at least 375 HP

Think they'll extend the 10 yr/100,000 mile full warranty onto that car?! That's really not a bad deal for 30K, beat the piss out of it and it's all covered.

I thought hyundai advertised themselves as a "smart" car that didn't follow the trends that other cars did. They usually come across as an energy conscious company. Now they're conforming to "luxury standards" and lowering their MPG standards. I can't imagine the V8 4.6L gets good gas mileage.

Oh well

The fine print on the bottom of the screen did say 375hp. I'm inclined to think they are fibbing a lot on that claim. Their engines have always been notorious for making low hp per CC. 375 out of 4.6 Liters would be a major jump for them. That would require a much higher compression ratio than they've used in the past.. which would of course lead me to question the long term reliability of the engine. Time will tell!

This website says 368, estimated, so they did lie. http://www.leftlanenews.com/hyundai-genesis.html

Another website estimates only 320 ft-lbs. torque. Doesn't that seem low proportionally to the Hp? Especially for a V8, I'd expect more torque.

Considering the new M3 makes 414hp but only puts out 295tq, which is also a V8, id say thats a healthy torque number.
