... for mis-representing fuel mileage numbers on 13 different 2011-2013 models. The EPA has ordered the companies to change the window stickers immediately and to pay restitution to about 900,000 customers will are effected. Some models are only off my a mile or two, some as much as 6+.

In all, discrepancies were found on 13 models, including the Hyundai Accent, Azera, Elantra, Genesis, Santa Fe, Sonata Hybrid, Tucson, and Veloster. The Kia Optima Hybrid, Rio, Sorento, Soul, and Sportage were also sold with incorrect fuel economy stats.

If you know anyone who drives one of those models, you might want to let them know what's up and forward this link.

That's crazy... I was under the impression the EPA tested the vehicles and that's where the MPG came from, not the manufacturers testing and reporting their own findings

After all, why would someone lie about their own product?

During my time with Hyundai there were many complaints about not getting the advertised MPGs. Of course the dealer I worked for couldn't care less after they took the customers money.

From what I understand, the EPA does not test all vehicles, they merely enforce reporting. They provide the manufacturer with the criteria for the test and it is the manufacturer's responsibility to test and report accurately. But if there are questions, the EPA will get involved and things like this happen.
