Let's say someone wants to fit 18x12's in the back of his z32 TT, with rolled and pulled fenders, and as limited camber as possible

And 18x10's in the front, which can be done. This fitment would obviously not be for function so that should be a give in with the thread title. let's not get into that. If you're not into aggressive fitments, no criticism is necessary and will be ignored.

What would the offset have to be in order to fit them without pie cutting and filling the fenders? in the 30's? 40's?

I'm also assuming a +20 is too low, right?

Treat this as hypothetical for the time being. Wheels in question are Rota (SHH!)GTR D's in 18x12, or Enkei rpf1's (if they even come in 18x12.)

Gonna have to notch suspension components, and do something with the fuel filler neck.

+30 at the least, to clear the LCA. And even then, you're going to have to notch it, and roll and pull the fenders, as well as run some good camber.

I have 18x10.5 + 20 out back right now and its sunken in the fender about half an inch. So in theory if one stuck with +20 and widened the wheel by 1.5" the wheel would come out .75", poking out roughly .25". With a stretched tire that sounds like a recipe for flushness if you ask me. I could be wrong on this theory, I'm no wheel expert, but I am a fanatic of flushness. So I say go for it and modify as needed.

I have an into thread on here with pics of the 18x10.5 for reference if you'd like. I'd link it but I'm on my phone.

not a ricer! lol

i just want crazy lips. like reverse mounted, barrels-width lips.

can someone go in depth on notching? What do you mean by that?
And if skywine is right, that isn't bad at all, I thought the poke would be worse. I've seen 18x12 done on this car, just with ugly wheels. It was a silver z in Florida. If anyone has info on that let me know! Especially wheel specs.

f*** it. I wanna do it just for the hell of it. Not stopping until I can fit a baby in the dish.

Now to source said 18x12 wheels. If I need to notch suspension components I'll play with spacers and camber.

Eli if you're serious Autobahn Motorsports in Peabody rolled my fenders and did a great job. No need to buy the $350 tool.

the eastwood roller is 200 bux! Already have several good heat guns too.

How much did they charge you ovr there?

I might seriously do this. Im a bit afraid of riding slammed in Boston though. But I've done it before. nothing too seriously bad came out of it, just a torn home depot lip. Lol

Buy the Eastwood. Its one of the best investments you can make. Plus you will make alot of new friends lol. My friend bought one and ive personally used it on 3 cars. I really should buy one.

The reason i say you should buy one is your most likely going to have to pull your fenders a little too. And to properly do that you have to keep installing the wheels, lowering the car, if they dont cleare, remove and pull some more. and over and over till they do, (If that makes sense, i just woke up). But you dont want to pay a shop for this process because it takes A LONG time, which starts getting really expensive. But be aware if you pull the fender too far you can cave in your 1/4 pannel. Dont know why, has to do with stretching the metal, but i accidentally did it to my 1st 240sx.

i should be ok if im only pulling an inch. These wheels aren't the widest things in the world to begin with. I personally believe you can fit 18x14" wheels in a good offset with enough work. That would require pie cuts and chit though.

I might get away with +20 and spacers. If not, they make them +30

anyone else thinking of other 18x12 wheels??

I'm sorry, but +20mm on an 18x10 is retarded. On an 18x12 you're looking at Honduh status.

I dont get what your trying to say here? By honda status are you refering to lots of wheel poke? Becuase when i think of "honda status" i think of say.. 18x7+45 on a 205/30 tire lol..ewww.. But i assume your talking about wheel poke.

The worst poke ive ever seen was a 91 miata slammed on 13x10+0(ish i dont recall the offset) and omg..they poked out like 3". I wish i still had pix because it reminded me of mario kart.

And for TTkicken pulling the fender out an inch will deffinatley cave in the 1/4. IIRC i pulled my 240 fender out 1/4-1/2" and it caved in the 1/4. Its not as bad as you think, it just created a fist sized "dent" in your 1/4. However i was really pissed.

Yeah, wheel poke. Just f*** stupid to me to get expensive wheels to stick out and then run the risk of messing them up if you ever park on a curbed street.

I don't understand the obsession with the whole herrafrush fad, never will. But I've always been a more function over form guy.

Because its SOO BOSSS lol

I enjoy it because i feel it makes the car look better. Thats just my opinion. To each their own. I also feel fuction and form both have their place. Function on a track, form on the street. hence my z is not technically "flush" (again in my opinion) and im in the process of of "flushing" my new daily MR2. I tried putting my z wheel on the mr2, they fit up front but the rears poked out like an inch, only the very tip of the sidewall (where the tread starts) would tuck in the fender. And yes its on coils too. So im in the market for a different set of wheels.

My belief is function over form for a racecar and form over function on the street. It makes sense to not throw off your suspenssin geometry on a racecar. But on a daily does it really matter? Something that always pops into my head for a street car would be saying "Function over form for street because my car can handle that corner sooo good at 35mph!" because in reality, were not supposed to speed on the street. However if you do track your daily then its function over form. Only form over function if its truly a DD.

Hope that made sense lol.

Okay, I know of 2 cars that have run a 18x12" wheel on a 300ZX. The silver Z (Sal's car) in Florida never had a 12" rear only an 11" as far as i know. One set was Work Vs-xx 18x11" +10, and Work Bersaglio that were 18x11" -13. That being said there is Vinces car:
Image
(has a 18x12.5" -2 VIP Modular VX110 with a 265/35 in the rear)

and the dudes from Arizona:
Image
(guy said he had a 18x12" -17 Work Rezax with a 265/35 in the rear not sure if that's acurate)

both have pretty outrageous camber and fully pulled rear quarter panels.

I have an 18x11.5" +22 and have rolled and a small pull on my fenders and run at least 4.5 degs of camber. I also had to notch my LCA. So i have the maximum amount of back space you can have without hitting the LCA. So with a 12" you would need a +15 to have the same backspace and it's going to hit.

Also if you are serious about doing it you better be ready to spend some SERIOUS money on wheels! 18x12" 3 piece wheels are not cheap especially when you are looking for a certain offset.

Sure, it's fine for the retarded VIP style or other Bozuku style crap, for Civics and VWs and other crap. IMHO it's disrespectful to the Z32.

Make a proper fitment vs hellaflush thread if you'd like to discuss it. Keep it out of my thread next time. Please. Especially if it's not related at all.

I wanted to know what the offset would need to be on an 18x12 wheel. I dont know what most of the comments above have to do with this but after picking through the BS, I have my answer..

Let's go off on the wild tangents now.

Function > form on a track z32. For MY daily driver z32 it makes no f*** difference. I'm terribly sorry if you feel differently, but I don't need a 1000hp monster turbo 2000cc injector running daily driver on zeal coilovers, Brembo f50 brakes, a full 8 point roll cage, fire suppression system, nitrous, aluminum racing seats wiht no pads and a f*** wheelie bar to get to work and back. That's a functional race car, not a daily driver. (dont take the mod list literally, i'm clearly exaggerating,) For the purpose of daily driving, that would be stupid.

Some nice wheels, ones I like, with the fitment I like, with the supporting suspension mods to get it as low as I want, running good, maybe with a few power adders in case I want to get on it a little from time to time, This is MY idea of a daily driver.

After my daily driver is finished, then we can talk about proper wheel fitment on my track car. For now, i don't really give a s*** what's disrespectful or not because It's not to me. Those z's with that agrressive fitment don't look anything different than other z's with 'proper' fitment, I don't see the disgrace. They don't have neon, they arent stickerbombed, they're not broken.

To me, it looks like they have a bad a** z32 and they love it just as i love mine. Why hate when someone else is trying to be different, and not even in the worst way?

People are always trying to build other people's cars for them these days, it's unreal.

As would stuffing expensive wheels into a daily driven vehicle that are too wide to fit without lots of negative camber. Equally as stupid in looks and concept as those cadillacs rolling around on 24+" chrome wheels that are worth about as much as the car.
TTkickedin wrote:Why hate when someone else is trying to be different, and not even in the worst way?
It's funny that calling someone out makes you a "hater." It's not a matter of being different - it's a matter of butchering the look of an otherwise clean car. Additionally, If you want to mod your own car for your own satisfaction, then why care about other people's opinion of your car in the first place?
TTkickedin wrote:no criticism is necessary and will be ignored.
Nobody is meaning to personally attack you (me included) - I'm not sure why you're taking such great offense to it. It's not like the wheels are already on your car. Besides, I thought this thread was "hypothetically speaking."

Then I decided I'm going for the fitment eventually. Lol.

The Rotas aren't expensive :dunno some people like aggressive fitment. And no, it doesn't butcher the look of the z, its adding a nicer fender shape to the too-sharp of fenders the z has. If you don't think it looks good, by all means stay away from wide wheels then. I think it looks clean done right too. Wide wheels remind me of a RWB Porsche. I'd use the strosek kit, but different front bumper that looks stock, and I'd get 18x14's in there if i could, but 18x12 is what I can get now.

Butchering the zx would be a vigorous zx function. Talk to him about that, or anyone else that wants to install that super gay eBay widebody kit. Or the ugly Stillen supra wing..that's what that is.

It's debatable saying wide fitment wheels on a DD is useless for daily driving, true. But so is installing coilovers, or big brakes, or bigger turbos. But it's not that big of a damn deal on a daily driver if you live in an area with smooth roads. I don't necessarily, but I've dealt with much worse car mods, like a completely gutted interior on a miata in the winter with the soft top.. the wheels won't kill me. Neither will the suspension.

And really, I wasn't asking if it looked good or not, but the tangent started and I deviated from saying I'd ignore it...my bad. If you don't like the fitment from herein, leave it to yourself, pecially when I didn't even ask if it looked good or not, thus the comments are off topic and killing the threads purpose. All I asked was what offset they'd have to be to clear the control arms and other suspension components. , and if anyone knew of other cheap 18x12 wheels.

Seriously, I'm about to just give my car to the nico garage, have everyone do what they want done to it, with their specialty z and te37 money, then I'll take it back once it's finished. :chuckle:
