So, call me an idiot. But I got bored and was going to try to clean my fuel injectors.

So I relieved the fuel pressure (loosen gas cap, take fuel pump fuse out, turn car on let engine die, etc.) ,removed the harness from the injectors, and then took out my injector on piston #2, just to get a feel for it. Then I cleaned the tip of it, and placed it back in, the o-ring was fine. So, I go to crank it over and it wont start. I already knew what had happened, so, I took out my #2 spark plug, look down the hole and sure enough, there was gas in there. So, I removed all plugs and cranked my engine over until all the gas shot out. But when I turn my key to "on" position, the fuel pump just pumps gas right back into cylinder #2. Oh, and something else that is weird is that when I pump all the gas out (with the fuel pump fuse out) it will start after and run without the fuel pump fuse in...meaning the fuel pump isn't on but the car stays on.

Can anyone explain why this is happening and how I can go about fixing it?

I need to stop trying to fix things that aren't broke haha.

I would say because you didn't correctly re-install the injector. The car MAY run because there some fuel left over or you didn't remove the right fuse.

Bur re-seat the O-ring and all Should be well assuming you did no engine damage. And next time remove the rail and re-install all the injectors on a bench or a table where its easier to work. And most importantly: Make sure to pressure test the fuel system. Tee in a fuel pressure gauge and turn the key ON (but God help you if you start the car) and make sure it holds pressure for more than 10 min.

allso...dont forget to use a lube when reinserting a injector..or you will roll the O-ring and pinch it cousing a leak...most people use petrolium jelly..i use synthetic bearing grease..some use just motor oil...ither method works well...good luck

Okay, this has nothing to do with "hydrolocking"

I concur with above post.

If the car was hydro-locked, it wouldn't turn over without bending con rods. Leaking injector may be because of a short causing the injector to stay open, a blockage preventing it from closing, or damaged or worn internals preventing it from closing. They are, after all, just a solenoid with precision parts and seals. As for why there is pressure when the fuel pump fuse is pulled: Test at the pump for voltage before assuming that power was removed! Unless there was an after market in-line pump added, you shouldn't have pressure with the proper fuse pulled. Teeing in a pressure gauge is a great idea, and it won't matter if the car is running or not. It will tell a story about the condition of the pump, regulator and injectors. It's up to the technician to interpret it.

I forgot to mention, if you have a leaky injector it will at first cause you to run rich, then the extra gas in the cylinder will wash the oil away from the cyl walls, causing premature wear, ring failure, piston slap, diluted oil, power loss and eventually engine failure. Don't forget, dumping un-burnt fuel into your exhaust will cause catalytic converter failure and could even cause it to catch fire!!!!! Do not ignore an over rich condition. Before you started this project; if you noticed your car produced white smoke, that is usually the first clue that something isn't going as intended in the combustion process. Timing, spark quality, compression, or excess fuel could be culprits. Don't go pulling your distributor just yet. Get some expert advice and maybe a knowledgeable friend to help you next time.

Well,I got the car running. Took out the injector, re-seated it, lubed the o-rings, and tapped it gently with a hammer.

Turns on, but now car makes a raspy sound when under heavy throttle, where as normally it would stay throaty and deep.

I changed my oil, and it kind of smelled like gas. Now my new oil smells like gas as well. When I went to put coolant in my car(cause i drained it) all the coolant smelled like gas too, and so did the reservoir tank.

Blown head gasket?
