I drove my 96 S14 into a flooded road this morning. It was dark and I did not see the water. I have an Injen CAI that I fear it may have taken in water. The car died and will not start. What should I do now? It is currently in my neighborhood so I will be pushing it home tonight. Thanks.

I hadn't heard of a bypass valve when I installed it 3 years ago.

Yeah, I used my '93 ride as a mini-sub once too.

Just start the car and let it burn all the water that got in, use the gas pedal to not let the car die. If your lucky, no fuses should be blown, but if the car runs funny, check the MAF resistor.

If it looks OK, try cleaning the resistor carefully and the connecting pins from the harness. Tighten them for better contact and test the car. If that doesn't work you'll probably need to replace your MAF.

You may have taken in some water but it is not hydrolocked. If it were hydrolocked it would be just that locked. I did it to a civic and blew a hole in the side of the enigine.

yeah, usually when you hydro lock an engine, it will break somthing, water isnt compressable like air is so the presure has to go somewere, weather its through the head or snaping a con rod

Well, from what trv240sx tells, doesn't necessarily means hydrolock. In my case, water was over the hood, and because I never stop moving, the water went over the car. It was intense, I thought the car would stop at the middle, but didn't.

How did that happened to you blackbelt?

The water was up to the bottom of the car. It was coming through the floor in the rear. I hit the water at about 25 mph and stopped as soon as I realized it wasn't a puddle. The intake was not sitting in the water when I got out to push the car out. It will now turn over when I try to start it but it won't start. The check engine light is also on.

This happened in 1994, and the only thing damaged was the MAF. Maybe that started the oil leak that's been happening for most of my car's life, but that aside, it's fine.

Check your codes man, see what sensors or devices are damaged, repair or replace and try the car again. Don't let it sit there with, possibly, water inside...it will bring corrosion.
