I was searching the internet for some parts and i came across this hydrogen boost. They make a kit for the 240 but i have no intentions to buy this. I was just wondering if any body has herd of this and knows how it works or do you just think its a gimmick to sell a product.

Hah! Gimmick.

But Shell and GM are working on a line of cars that will run solely off hydrogen in a few years down the road. Lookout for that in the near future.

The product being sold is an onboard hydrogen electrolyzer. The idea is to produce hydrogen (and oxygen) by splitting water using an electric current. Apparently, and I'm working on testing this myself, by introducing trace amounts of hydrogen in the intake (1-1.5 liters of h2 gas per minute), you can improve power, increase fuel economy, and reduce emissions.

There is more to the theory, and I would be happy to share with you what I have learned and my experiments as they progress.

i found this post by accident. i was wandering about trying this in my 95 max so if you put it in your car let me know how it went and what it's worth.

Ok i see there is some serious confusion on nico about hydrogen devices on cars. I myself have 4 car presently running on it and they do indeed increase mileage. I have a Dodge ram 1500 with a 360 in it getting 28 mpg, a Chevy impala with a 3.8L getting 36 mpg, a chevy S10 with the 2.2l getting 38mpg. My 240 is presently in the works since im working on a bit more sophisticated system for that. There is also tons of proof that onboard hydrogen electrolysis devices do work. I live in Michigan and there are TONS of people running around town with these units on there cars getting far more impressive number then i am. On modern cars when you leak hydrogen into the intake the ecm will back off the fuel trims as long as the O2 sensors toggle properly and the engine remains knock free. On cars with distributors you can have some real fun with lying to the ecm. This is do to hydrogens flame speed. Since hydrogen has a much faster flame speed then gasoline it burns much bettter in the combustion chamber yielding a better burn out of the gasoline that is also present in the chamber. By this occurring you can retard the timing closer to TDC which eliminates some of the negative work done by the piston having to compress combustion gases. Less negative work yields greater efficiency which gives you more mpg also. There are other ways to lie to your computer with after market map sensors and programmable ecus and other oddities that some people find that work. And for dyno number i will get them i just have to wait for school to start back to be able to use the schools dyno. I am not saying that it yields more hp (it does restore some since you are steam cleaning your engine constantly) but i will get dyno sheets for those on Nico that live and die by them. All and all the hydrogen systems do work and you must be living under a rock not to realize the shear mass of people that have already done the conversion. And at less then $50 for a cheap set up that can get the 240 into the 35 mpg range it would take only about 3 fill ups to pay for it self. SO please stop the hydrogen ignorance on Nico your sounding like honda kids when you say some of this moronic stuff like they don't work and they are a gimmick.

RockStar what kit are you using? I'm very interested in putting this setup in my 07 Maxima. :wavey:

HHO... The issue is MAP / MAF thinks the gas is air and the AFR ratio is off when using standard narrow band o2 sensors However a tunable ECU using wideband can benefit from this. However, this is something that needs further exploration by the powers at be.
