I was told this was why my motor is making that awful noise and I am pretty sure it is. I was able to push the rocker arm down alittle bit so i think that one just needs to be bled. The problem is i can't find the procedure to bleed the HLA's in the FSM. Does anyone know the procedure or can give me a link to it because i can't find it on my own.thanks guysNigel

hold them under oil. summerge them all in a bowl, squeeze them if you have to, but usually just keep them under oil with the hole facing up and theyll bleed themselves

If you have the S14 SR FSM turn to page EM-46 and it will tell you how to bleed the HLAs. "Remove hydraulic lash adjuster and dip in a container filled with engine oil. While pushing plunger as shown in figure, lightly push check ball using a thin rod. Air is completely bled when plunger no longer moves. Air cannot be bled from this type of lash adjuster by running the engine."

i will tell you from experience those lifters will not "pump up" on their own by just running the engine. you must bleed enough air to "prime" them. once you get them primed they will pump up the rest of the way.
