I know this may be a pretty simple question, but dont laugh at me...What's the idea behind a hybrid turbo?

Also how are these things named? For example, T3/T04E. Is T3 the intake side and T04E the exhaust side?

The intake part from the T3, is smaller so it lets you spool-up more rapidly, and the T4 compressor lets you boost higher than a t3's. This set-up is good for smaller(I.E.:four cylinder) engines because they don't put out as much exhaust gas as larger engines, resulting in boost/turbo lag. Exar-Kun, if it was the T4 intake and T3 exhaust, then you would have the slower spool up time of a T4, but have the lower boost capabilities of a T3. Simple mistake, but REALLY bad idea.
