I've been reading a lot and trying to decide which winter projects I want to tackle this winter and one I think I'm set on is getting rid of the stock open diff on my s13.

From what I read, the pinion and ring gear front the front differential on an Xterra can be used to raise the final drive to 4.636. Now this sounds great and fits my application, but I'm still left with an open differential.

Maybe I'm dumb for asking, but can I use say a Kaaz 2-way diff made for an s13 with my new ring and pinion after I get it all re-shimmed and put back together?

I would say yes as long ans the ring and pinion would work with the OE open end.

I agree. and if you install it you'll quickly notice if it works or not. If it sounds bad/wierd. DONT force it.
