Before I bought my 240 I was really active in local auto X and time trials. So I have 2 5th gen celica's in my driveway (90-93) both are 91's.

The main problem we have is a suitable power plant for them. there is the option of a 3sgte turbo swap but the stock transmission doesn't hold up and theres a few other options for it that are mostly headaches.

Having my spare KA siting out once I pulled the engine in my celica coupe I started kicking around the idea of swapping in a transverse ka24de from an altima. I can modify the engine cross member to mate up to the front and rear motor mounts, and ither make mount adapters for the left and right mounts or weld in new ones to the fender aprons. Problem number two would be the output shafts from the transmission, getting the right length and splines to mate up. Wiring will most likely be a pain in the *** but since it's not my daily driver I have time to spend on it, or a friend from my celica forum who is AMAZING with wiring who is willing to make a harness for me.

My main question is getting it to fit in the engine bay, I would love some measurements if anyone has a spare fwd KA laying around. legnth width, height. anything you can. If not im going to take a ride to a few junk yards and try to find an altima to take some off of. Also any other input would be greatly appreciated. I'm not looking to get flamed, only a nissan engine in my toyota. I know a lot of people don't like the idea of putting different manufacturers together. but I'm not looking to turn heads or impress all my friends, I just want a solid engine that can give me 200whp and withstand the beatings of monthly autocross. So what do you guys think?

sounds like a great idea, sorry i don't have measurements for it, but you could try runnin a megasquirt setup for the wiring/ecu part.(should make things easier)

honestly you could do it if you can weld/fab the parts up... the ecu you just need on from a de motor, you can pretty much just do a 'hack job' on the wiring, when you pull the ecu/motor keep as much wiring as you can from the ecu harness conector. You will only NEED to run about 30 wires give or take... a ka24e is around ten but the de is slightly different.... or as said the megasquirt... or other stand alone.

gettign the 200whp from a de is another story unless you are gonna boost it?

yeah my initial plan was to boost the KA24DE, I should have said that in the top post. It's just getting a suitable platform into the car to build power off of that is my main concern, and getting the s53 transmission out of the celica.

I would be planning to keep the body harness intact if I have to, If not I'm willing to spend the time to unlace the altima harness from a front clip or junkyard and then lengthen/shorten and lay it into the chassis accordingly. The biggest pita i think i'll encounter is keeping the AC, Power windows and locks, or just interfacing them with the ka ecu.

ATM I just want to get a lot of measurements so I know what problems are going to come up. That way If I plan for the worst and it works.. I'll be pleasantly surprised.
