Hybrid EX?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Does anyone know if Infiniti is planning a hybrid other than the M or next G? model? About 2 years ago I got my EX and thought I would just lease it since fuel economy standards by 2012 would be a lot better AND hybrid models would be available as well. I did not want to commit to buying a car that in 2012/3 would have sub-par fuel economy. With my commute at 80 miles round trip... 21-22mpg vs 30-35+mpg makes a big difference... while I love the new M, not sure if I want to commit that amount of money. I have read rumors of the next G's coming with a hybrid but would love the EX with a hybrid.

I took a look at Lexus' CT Hybrid but it does 0-60 in 9.8 seconds (BOOOOO)... Infiniti preserved the M's performance (0-60 5.4 to 5.9 seconds) so I sure hope we see a new EX or G with hybrid technology.

Although I wonder if the current EX or G platform is too small for a hybrid system to fit and the engineers are working up hybrids for the new platforms.

this link is giving me hope:

Infiniti recently agreed to a sponsorship deal with Red Bull's F1 Team and with Renault as an engine partner for Red Bull it seems like the stars are aligning (especially since Infiniti is making a a big push in Europe where F1 is king of motorsports). The reason I mention this is becuase F1 is going back to KERS (see link below about KERS).

From what I hear Infiniti is planing to only offer hybrid vehicles across all it's model line by 2020. I'm pretty sure they are already working on the G, FX and EX hybrid. If they can fit the hybrid system on the G, I'm pretty sure they can fit it on the EX... since both cars share the same platform. I would love an Infiniti EX 37 hybrid with a 7 speed. I think it would be a very fun car to own and drive. You get amazing performance when you need it... and the fuel economy of a four cylinder. Let's hope the people at infiniti read this forum. Here is my post on the subject, what the next generation EX should be like. post5691667.html?hilit=EX%20hybrid#p5691667

Also if you curious about the M35 Hybrid belows link is Motortrends first test on the M35H. The test shows some exciting numbers. The technology and engineering in the new M35H is pretty impressive. I can't wait for the second generation hybrid system... most likely it'll be even more powerful and efficient. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmhBbUasoeQ
