I was planning and had enough money to buy an AEM EMS but as usual a couple things came up. I'm about to leave for school in 14 days and I definitely wont be able to raise enough funds for the EMS .

Will the stock rb25 ecu get me by ?

If you never touch boost? Sure, you could DD it around. Boosting? Hell no.

And just to be clear, we are talking about a unmolested untuned ECU, right?

I opened the ECU once and it didn't seem touched. I don't think the rb25 ECUs can be tuned, but Its wierd some one wrote " the day the earth stood still " in spanish on the the ECU. It's the only reason I even decided to inspect the ECU.

How would I go about not boosting at all ? I have a 35mm WG and a manual boost controller.

Don't push the gas pedal down all the way or don't install the turbo until your get all the supporting parts. That's not a small turbo. You could also try and find a super weak spring for the WG and leave the boost line disconnected. You would probably be alright boosting like .3 or something.

If you want no boost, remove the spring from the wastegate.

I ran a big t3/t4 with a factory tune for quite awhile. If you are really easy on the gas pedal it will likely be okay, and no wot stuff.

But if you yank the spring, the wastegate is going to be open even at idle. That would make for a loud car.

That's why I don't run a screamer pipe. Mine is routed back into the exhaust. I guess I assumed the OP did the same.

Loudness isn't a concern I'm running a 3 inch straight pipe ( I'll probably only piss off cops and neighbors ) . I just don't wanna mess anything up. So even with the wastegate spring out no WOT ?

No open throttle. It could still boost creep or something. Why would you want to full throttle it if it won't make real power anyways? Is the HX35 already installed? My suggestion would be to put a stock turbo back on until you have the money to finish the project. Then you can still have fun with your car.

man its so easy to install or uninstall that turbo so y would u even take a chance at installing that turbo without the other supporting mods. thats a big risk if u ask me but each to its own i guess...
