Hello it has been a long time the only time I see the J now is when something is wrong. Here is the issue the air is only coming out of the defrost and the floor vents no matter which position is selected. The controls illuminate correctly but the airflow does not change.

Any ideas where to start and how can I manually set it to come out of the dash vents? Thanks in advance

Sounds like your Mode door motor isnt working!
Check out the FSM, using the HA Chapter for diagnosis....
Pages HA 98-103 and HA 113 seem useful to set the mode door motor by hand to a one time position

Something broke internally, inside the air box , manually changing the position did not change the airflow. We ended up taking the center air vents out the one with the clock. that gave us access to manually move the door into the dash vent position. There was some screening we had to cut open to get to this door. It moved freely like it was no longer attached to the motor. But he now has air from the dash vents. We did crack the center vent if any one has one to sell LMK Thanks.
