I just ran the test and had a question that might be stupid, but I want to ask to be certain. According to page HA-68 of the 1991 Service Manual it says:

When swich's L.E.D. and segments are in good order in STEP 1 mode, the corresponding L.E.D. and fluorescent display tube will illuminate.

My question is that the L.E.D. and segments all light up on mine, the all the ones I have circled in blue. The only that doesn't light up, is the where the red arrow points to. Is there supposed to be something there that lights up, or are they just "pointing" to the fluorescent display tube in the illustration?''

Here is a close up of an actual unit:

Question 2: Is there a way to change the setting from °F Fahrenheit to °C Celcius?

Question #1- It's just the pointer. There's nothing there on the screen.

Good luck

I remember talking to you about this before and you said the exact same thing last time. I tried so many different things and still haven't figured it out.

What happens when you change the odometer from English units to metric?

Actually keeping it in Farenheit will give you a greater number of gradations.

I live in Canada and I'm just used to KM/H and Celcius, since this country runs on that.

the sensors are actually calibrated to *C, and the computers convert that into farenheit...

At some point I remember Jerry Tucker (who rebuilds the defective 90-93 units) said that it's a component on the circuit board that has a lead hooked to a different point on the board. He didn't go into specifics, but I feel sure it's not possible to just flip a switch or change a dip switch or jumper.

If Q45s were imported into the Canadian market, I would assume you could find a controller in a salvage yard there...

We do have Q45s Heath, we just never had Active models.

I won't deal with salvage yards here. They want so much money for any part they have, and after parts have been sitting outside all winter long exposed to rain and snow for years, they are no longer in excellent condition as they like to believe. When they hear that someone wants to buy a part for a Q45, they figure it's them or the dealer since there aren't too many Q45s around and the price goes through the roof.

My HVAC display doesn't even come on most of the time. The buttons still work though.

In the US FAST there are 7 part numbers from 08/89 - 02/93 :

28525-60U0028525-60U0128525-60U0228525-60U0328525-60U0428525-60U0528525-60U06

All the part numbers now supersede to 28525-60U06.

There are 2 part numbers that are the same in both Canadian and US models: 28525-60U01 and 28525-60U02.

Is it possible that the Canadian models that used those part numbers had displayed the temperature in fahrenehit?

Or is Paul right and there is a way to switch between Fahrenheit and Celcius?

It would make sense after all Nissan did put plastic chain guides to save 30 cents per car, So I would only figure they would use the same board but have a setting to change it from and to F & C.

I have also examined the Q45's interior and I have found many ways they tried to save money, But you can't notice them unless you take the interior and the parts that make it up apart.

But Heath may have a point too.
