Today for the first time (to my knowledge), my temperature display wouldn't come on. I pressed AMB and nothing showed up. I turned the fans on and they came on. Later, the display showed 90 when I tried it again. I tried it again later on this evening, and the samething happened.

At first I thought it was because of the ungodly temperature of my interior, but tonight was substantially cooler. What would cause that to happen? My Q has 86,000 miles on it. Is it time to replace the unit?

The typical failure mode is that the whole display blacks out, but everything still works... sometimes tapping on the dash will bring it back for a few minutes.

The problem is not a loose connection or bad capicitors. I tried resoldering every joint, and replaced all of the capicitors with no difference on my controller. Jerry replaces a component on the board, but I don't know what.

Yeah. I did what you guys said. After hitting it a couple times, it registered at 85 degrees. Glad to see that it's not a MAJOR malfunction. But, it is quite annoying.

And it won't get better, but will fail when you most need it.

Mine gets funny sometimes too. What mine does is the temperature reading on the screen starts to run wild. Here is a link to a quick video I made to show you what I mean:

If the video doesn't work and someone has another way to host it, please let me know.

And temps are to hit triple digits tommorrow, and my work shirt is a black polo. I'll be driving a black car with a mostly black interior. I hope i don't die of heat stroke

Well. I survived. It was like a wet blanket. The humidity was TERRIBLE. The interior of my winshield developed moisture and I had my windows down and sunroof open this evening. Crazy right?

My damn AC worked in January when I bought the car, now when I need it, it's busted. Stupid Murphy and his law.
