i tried a search but i didn't get anything

So when i'm parked and idling... my transmission hums (foot off all pedals). Kind of makes a whirring humming noise.. When i press down on my clutch an inch or two (around engagement point) at park and idle.. humming stops. When i lift my foot off the clutch.. whirrs and hums again.

Bad clutch? Clutch pedal too high? Free play too high?

95 240sx se.

thanks in advanced.

To things: transmission oil low, bearings are shot.

sounds like your release bearing. The aftermarket OEM replacement release bearings are pretty ****tastic in my experience.

I guess i'll be adding some more transmission oil to see if it gets rid of the sound. If not then i guess i'll just live with it until i get a new clutch with bearing.

if it was a throwout bearing, it would make the noise only when the clutch was depressed. when the clutch is out, the throwout bearing is not spinning.
