Hi,

I have a 2000 nissan xterra, 3.3 v6 automatic. 31k miles.

The humming noise from the rear starts at about 50mph, gets real loud at 60 mph and goes away at 70mph. noise goes away when I let off the gas, but as soon as I apply the gas pedal it comes back.

Any Ideas.

are you getting any vibration? check your tires for knots or uneven, also check drive shaft.

Usually when you have a humming sound out of the rear when acceleratingand goes away when you let off its the ring and pinion gears in the rear end. I suggest you take it in to get checked out maybe its covered underwarranty, what ill do ill check for TSB's at work tomorrow for your xterra.Hope I can help!!!!!!
