With the key in the ignition ACC/ON, as long as they head unit is on, with the volume at ONE or above it will hum. It does not hum @ 0. The head unit does not put out power to the speakers (unsure why), I have my speakers powered via RCA by a 500/4 Phoenix Gold amp. I plugged a speaker into one of the speaker outputs of the head unit, and it hummed, with no volume/without actually playing the music that was playing on the CD. All humming- throughout the volume 1-20+ etc etc. Not a whirring, it sounds like interference, but I have no idea how it can be...PoorManQ45 wrote:Hmm.. It still occurs when the car is off? Do you mean like with the key out of the ignition, or just turned to ACC?
Does the HU itself make the noise. If you have the volume all the way down can you hear the noise? Or is it coming from the speakers?
Does your HU have a CD player? If so, is the sound similar to a CD-rom drive on a computer(whirring). If so then the CD player is failing.
