Hey guys, Well...I am in the process of doing a 5 speed and s14 ka engine swap in a buddies car.

I have the engine and transmission installed with the emissions and egr removedS13 lower intake manifold and s13 dizzy.I am running s13 harness and also lower harness for s13 manual transmission

The engine is turning over I tired testing for spark at the plugs...Nothn So went to check the ignitor. Nada. No spark coming off the plug there. So I replaced and check about 3 ignitor coils soo far...Is there something I am doing wrong here?

Does anyone know how to check to see if the wiring for the ignitor plug is getting power?

This is staring to bum me out. He is a good friend of mine. Served for out country. So I am trying to give him a hand. This is the only thing stopping me at the moment. :-(

Thanks in advance to the nissan gurus ere.

by your description, I think you mean ignition coil? If you've checked the ignition coil and have no spark, you have 2 main possible problems.

A) The ignitor isn't getting a signal from the crank position sensorB) The ignitor isn't sending the voltage cut to the coil.

Do you possible know where these are located? Also how to check for voltage at those points?

Thanks

On the other thought...I thought that the crank positioning sensor was on the s14 transmission? If that be the case...Why would it have a affect with the s13 harness and ecu? And thoughts?

the ignitor should be on the same bracket the ignition coil is on. It should have a 3 or 4 prong connector. The coil has a 2 prong connector and is where the center spark plug wire on the distributor cap goes to. Just trace it, and you'll find the coil and the ignitor. The CPS is inside the distributor. The only way to fix it is to replace the distributor (unless you have a spare distributor for parts). I'll look tomorrow when I can get on alldata for testing procedures.
