Hulu, the online TV and film portal, has finally rolled out a subscription service, according to a note posted to the site on today. For $9.99 a month, subscribers of Hulu Plus get access to a full season's worth of their favorite TV shows--and even past seasons in some cases. The shows will be accessible to subscribers on the iPhone, the iPad, and on some television sets. Soon it will also work through the PlayStation3 and Xbox video game consoles. Hulu Plus will still have ads, just like the free service does but many of the programs on Hulu Plus will be in 720p high definition.

Wait, currently Hulu offers 5 episodes of shows, and sometimes more (Stargate SG-1 had all 9 or 10 seasons and I watched all but the last few episodes because it got dumb), so as long as you log in once a month, you'll be able to watch 'em all before the oldest one(s) is removed. So I don't see it as a huge plus to offer an entire season or more.

So with commercials still there, a person is paying $10/mo for 720p on "many" of the programs, but not all.

The more details I hear about this, the less interested I become. Streaming on-demand TV to my PS3 is an appealing prospect since I have no intention of paying for any cable or satellite TV subscriptions that would net me on-demand features. But with only "some" HD, ads, AND a $10 monthly fee (apparently also on top of $50/year for Playstation Plus, which is required to use Hulu Plus on the PS3, or $50 for XBL Gold--required for Hulu Plus on 360) it really doesn't seem that enticing. I can just run HDMI out from my PC and hit fullscreen on the Hulu player for free and get a lot of what Plus claims to offer.

Netflix's streamed selection sucks, though.
And Netflix for PS3 requires a damn disc to be in the drive, while the 360 sounds like a pair of Harriers are hovering next to your TV when just sitting idle, making it a poor media solution.

I don't have a netflix account, so I'll have to take your word for it, but they sure make it sound like they have a HUGE selection.

LOL. I don't either for that reason.
