Alright, I have a little problem. My gauge cluster does not read show the speed, and does not light up when the lights are on. The tach works fine. It is a hud cluster w/digital speedo. I could care less if the hud works, I just want the digital speedo and lights to work.

I have searched around, and everyone says a hud capaciter burns out. So I was wondering if I could just unplug it and it would work (it does not). I have pulled the cluster out and checked things. All of the wires are pluged in and complete. Nothing looks burnt out (havent checked the hud yet, but would rather just leave it alone and leave it turned off). If I were to just replace the cluster with a analog one, should it then just work fine? Does the HUD have to be working to complete the circuit to the lights and digi speedo (I assume so)?

Any help is appreciated, and sorry if this is confusing, trying to type quickly.

best thing to do is just replace the lower speedo cluster..usually when you do that the HUD display will again start to work..you could try to get one from a junkyard but more than likley you will run into the same problem..as it turns out the heat generated in the car while the car is sitting in the sun cooks that inside of the car . over time the high temps cause the cluster to become faulty. its a pretty easy fix but be prepared to spend somewhere around 300.00 bones or so.

i had the same problem (as does everyone else with a digital speedo in our cars at some point or another) and yes swapping to an analog works just fine, but you need the wiring harness from the analog, and also im currently using a digital speedo from a katrina flood car that works perfectly so i would say if you can get a digital from the junkyard, try it out first as its less work :p
