Hey there, My heads up display on my 92 240SX has been out for god knows how long now and I really want to fix it. The other day, my father and I tore down the whole dash of the car to look at the speedometer and found absolutely nothing wrong with the wiring or solder on the back of the cluster. As my dad had an inquisition, we checked every fuse in the car, and in the fuse box (located by the driver's left foot) we found that the fuse labeled in the diagram as "meter" had no power. We checked the fuse, it worked, but the actual circuit had no power. I checked the FSM and the fuse "meter" hooks up to the Heads Up Display Control Unit. NICO Mechanics, if you guys have a suggestion on what I can do, we could fix a bunch of 240SX owners problems. Please Help.:(

was your key in the run position when you checked that fuse? if so you may have a fuse link problem under the hood.

Yes, the key was turned to on, in fact, the car was running. I tried it again today with the key on, same results. Where should I start checking to see about the problem, the fuse panels have quite a few wires. I am decently literate when it comes to mechanics, but electrical systems have always been a problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you sure that meter fuse doesnt have power on both sides? looking at the wiring diag. there are a couple other fuses powered by the same line that feeds the meter fuse.

you see, that is what I am not sure about, what fuses should I check, i feel like this problem is something loose because the speedo has clicked on twice before for like <5 seconds

if that fuse is in fact dead on both sides and the rest of the fuses in that row are ok on both sides. I would say your problem lies in the fuse box it self. Are the rest of the fuses ok? and is the meter fuse dead on both sides??

I don't exactly get what you mean by dead on both sides, the front side(in cabin fusebox) is dead. All of the fuses that connect in the FSM are perfect. I can buy another fuse box, but I would rather not do that unless I absolutely have to. Please explain "dead on both sides," and I will see what I can find.

you have plastic auto fuses in your fuse box when they are plugged in you can check them with a test light on the back side of the fuse on either side of the number 10 is exposed metal one is one side of the fused area and the other is the oppisite side of the fused area. if both tabs are dead it is dead on both sides.

Okay, It happened today. I started my car and the heads up display lit up. Big question is whether there are any wires or any links in the cars passenger door or center console, because it worked until my brother shut the door and I put the car into reverse. I swear it's teasing me. IF you know of anything that can help NISTECH, please let me know.

when they go out again rap on the dash. See if they light up again. I really think you have a connectivity problem in the hud controller or the timer control unit.

if the "meter" fuse dpesnt have power try running a wire to it to give it power and see if it works then af if it does just run a wire to from another fuse and youll be golden
