hud out and rev limiter

My hud, spedo and dash lights are out and it seem to have some kind of rev limeter problem i dont know if there related i messed around with some of the switches on the transmission and the od swich changed it but did not fix it so i put it back to normal. what hapens is when it goes over about 3200 rpms for over like 5 seconds it just shuts down. then when it drops back below 3500 it acts normally. the hud and spedo do work occasionally when its hot but the rev limiter always does it. it does not do it in 1st or 2nd but it does in 3 4 and 5. i replaced the speed timer thing under the kick panel with another one from the scrap yard but it could also be bad. iv seen numerous forums on the subject and even a few with my exact problem. I NEED AN ANSWER it is driving me crazy. the car would be perfect if i didnt have these problems. please help

sounds like you have 2 seperate problems. the lighting problem sounds like the timer unit you replaced. open one of them up and look at the circuit board for a burnt trace if it is burnt you can jump it with a piece of wire and soilder it on to the trace. as far as the speed limiter problem I am not sure but it could be related to your speed sensor[ the speedomter]

i looked at the circuit board before and saw no problem with it. i may have my neighbor check it out (hes a computer guy) and i was going to check the speed sensor on the transmission but never got to it. But the hud works at the same time at the dash lights and evrything only when its hot so i dont see how that sensor could effect the whole dash

that timer unit controls all the illumination in your cluster.

o .well my main concern has been the rev limiter. since it restricts me from driving liek an idiot and going over 75 mph so what do u think about that

IV FOUND THE PROBLEM WITH THE SPEDO! IN THE HUD UNIT THERE IS TWO LITTLE WHITE CIRCIT BOARDS THAT STAND UPRIGHT AND SINCE IT ONLY WORKS WHEN THERE HOT I NARROWED IT DOWN WITH MY HEAT GUN AND FOUND IT ONLY CAME ON WHEN I HEATED THOSE BOARDS THEN WHEN I BLOWED COLD ON THEM IT TURNED OFF> THE PROBLEM IS THE COMPONENTS R SO TINY U CANT SOLDER THEM OR CHECK THEM SO I MAY HAVE TO TAKE IT TO A SPECIALIST
