I am new over here, but it seems you guys know a lot about 240's. I just purchased my first 240. Its a 93 coupe with the HUD. The hud and the regular speedometer are not lighting up. I found a weird quirk in this though. I can get it to turn on if I start the car, turn on the lights and then turn the car off and on again really fast (without the engine dying). If I do that it works as long as I dont turn the lights off. Any ideas on what to check to make this work?

I used the search option and found plenty of people saying theres work off and on. Mine works with no interuptions once you fool it into turning on. If there was a topic that covered this I would not have asked.

I'm pretty sure it is the same problem. I would try fixing it like the other threads recommend. I had a s13 with hud and I just put up with the piece of crap not working.

I would do that but the speedometer does not light up either. I have to have some way to tell how fast I am going.

If you don't want to fix it then just have a friend drive next to you to determine what rpm is what speed using their speedo. Thats what I did minus the friend I just did it in traffic. That is the super ghetto way to do things though. Try to find a fix. That subject might be a sticky somewhere. I'll have to try and find it.

That stuff is all very interesting. I have a different problem though. The rest of my dash works. The lights work fine and my tack and odometer work fine. Just the speedo and hud are not working.

Like I said before if I start the car and then turn on the lights (does not matter if parking or head lights), then turn the key off and on really fast so the car does not die the odometer and hud turn on and work fine as long as I dont turn the lights off.

I cant find anyone that has a similar problem to help me trouble shoot this. It seems that everyone elses lights on the dash and everything go out.
