HUD DISPLAY help!

So I searched and could not find a sufficient answer. The HUD in my 1990 240 coupe seems to cut in and out randomly. I dont know if there is a problem with the harness or what. The only thing I've heard in this forum is that you can replace it with a non-hud. I'm trying to stay away from doing this so if anyone knows the cause of this please let me know. Also I have not checked the capacitors yet but I will.

Search for HUD. When I had my 89 with HUD it always crapped out. Then I looked on here. I know somewhere in one of the hundreds of threads it tells some common problems.

I'll check it out, but for the most part it just talks about people replacing theres and checking the capacitors. I was wondering if since then someone might have found the source of the problem instead of the guessing game thanks for the input though.

when i has s13 coupe it did the same it will be on when i start the engine and it goes dead after few seconds...i took it all apart and resoder the all the partin the cluster near the liquid display and after that i put it in it workedanother way is to find a liquid display and replace itmy friend didn't bother and he just installed apexi old school speedometer but it only shows in kmh...

The link for the capacitor fix I think is in the FAQ's ......most the time is the capacitors or bad soldering joints. I have work in a few that were non repairable (lucky guy??). I ended up buying new modules from Nissan....Search harder and you will find the link and more tips....

i sort of have the same problem but mine only works when its really hot in the car...like if ive had it closed up all day and then get in it...it will work till i turn the car off and it gets cool inside....no idea what is goin on

Finally some one with the same problem. ^^^^^^ It seam it only works when the car has ran for a little bit but also when I shift gears it like resets or stays off for about 20 seconds then comes back on. **** is outta control im taking it to my buddies shop tomorrow to thrash the hud and see if I can find the route of the problem so if I do find out my problem Ill be sure to let all of you know. (and thanks for the input)
