hud/ digital gauge cluster....

ok first off i did the swap from analog to digital on my 92 240. ok sooo the digital gauge woulnt work when i first start the car it comes on then fades out.......wtf why is this happening??? does any 1 know how to fix it??? also the swap should be plug-n-play right no special mods needed to make it work right???? and yes i do have a harness. thanks for your help-joe

Hmm...I have a digital speedo + HUD, and mine has just totally stopped working. It is either a PCB problem, or a speed sensor that is f'd.

Are you sure you cam use the same speed sensor with a new digi speedo? Something to investigate..

The speedo will work fine for either gauge clusters... I doubt it is you speed sensor: my guess is that if it was bad, the displ. would just read zero(MPH/KPH). The speed sensor doesn't delegate power/illumination to the display IIRC. Save yourself some serious headaches and just put an analog back in... why do you think I bought yours?

::edit:: Sorry, I guess that wasn't much help... try putting a drop light under you dash(or a source of heat) and see if you can get it to stay on. If so it's most likely a problem w/the circuit board... Also try wiggling the harness connector in the rear of the cluster: that connector seems to get pretty stressed and will develope intermittent connection to the PCB. ::edit::
