HUD and Cluster lights not working?

I've searched old threads, and google, etc, but have yet to find the answer to my problem. I've got a 92 240 SE, and have no HUD, no digital speedo, and no instrument cluster lights. The lights for the radio, heater, automatic shifter etc all work fine, and dim/brighten with the dimmer control. I've pulled the TCU and there are no burnt traces. Tail lights, parking lights etc all work properly. All fuses are good. Ideas? Any way to test the TCU to see if thats bad before I dropp a bunch of money on the HUD? Any input wold be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!!

ive got the same problem, plus the speedo, rpm, gas and temp gauges dont do anything at all, either.

Brad, Hate to say it, but it's unlikely that it's your TCU: I had identical problems when I bought my 240. I checked almost everything, and even attempted to 'fix' my guages. However in the end I just replaced the entire instrument panel with an analog one, and everything has worked perfectly since.

If you would like to ease your mind about the timing control unit, there are some checks you can do with a multi-meter. I reccomend that you download a FSM from the web-they're hosted everywhere it seems now-a-days. It will step you through the testing process.

I had the exact same thing when I got my coupe, The HUD supplies the grounds to all the gacklight lightbulbs so it probly a problem with the hud electronics, I picked up another hud from the junk yard to fix mine.
