Hubcentric rings

ive been trying to research this with little luck

can someone explain hubcentric rings and how you know when to use them and such

They keep aftermarket wheels snug and centered on the hub by filling the empty space between the wheel and hub. Most wheels have a larger bore in the middle compaired to stock wheels so they can fit over various hubs. very good to use if you can.

Without them, you can end up with some vibration issues and they are so cheap, why not get them. Call tirerack and tell them the bore of your wheel's hubs (wheel manufacturer can tell you) and then tell em what you drive. They should be able to provide you w/ the proper rings.

You want to make sure these rings are the correct fitment for the wheel. It's best to source them from someone who sells that wheel brand. All rings are not the same and they are not a universal fit type of hardware. We only supply rings for the wheel brands we sell and even among those, the ring type will vary from brand. You can have serious issues if the rings do not match up correctly to the wheel and the vehicle.

if the hub bore of the wheel is bigger than the hub bore of the stock wheel (66.06mm)

Isn't it just easier to buy hubcentric wheels in the first place?

I thought so, but sixxduece said they usually make aftermarket wheels with a larger hub bore so they can fit a wider variety of vehicles.If you can find some, great! If not, these hubcentric rings are the 'proper' way to do it.

I was looking at Mustang rims for a while. They have a larger hub bore than the 240, but no one makes a ring with mustang outer diameter and 240sx inner diameter. Someone suggested boring out the wheel to a larger 'standard' size that they make compatible rings for.

I wasnt aware that different wheels may require different shaped rings. But I'll take Grant's word for it...
