It turns out the serviceman probably broke one of the lugs re-installing the caps. I didn't check and one cap soon was thrown off. See Tech. Service Bulletin NTB07-038 for a description of causes of noisy caps. It shows what to look for and how to re-install these caps correctly. In addition, it provides a mechanism for filing a claim for damaged caps. Bet the dealership won't mention the TSB when you visit. In my case the cap stayed on long enough to enable the dealer to claim he wouldn't be responsible.
Good luck and don't wait to follow up.
Well, just got home from the dealer. My Service Writer called in the Service Manager and had me tell them about my last oil change (oil all over engine, hand prints on the hood) and tire rotation (three out of four hubcaps not seated). They replaced all three hubcaps and didn't charge me for the oil change! I also told the Service Manager that Nissan has a problem with the hubcaps and based on the Technical Service Bulletin it was apparent that they not only removed the hubcaps incorrectly but also broke them further by forcing them back on. Anyway - I feel they did the right thing and am happy again.
