What's the difference between the 60mm hub bolts and the 50mm ones? One of the bolts on my car is stripped, so I decided to replace all of them with Nismo ones, but when I was ordering them I noticed the different lengths, and this:

These Nismo Wheel Studs come in two different configurations:

* 40222-RS025 60mm length, fits all vehicles except: solid rear axle, 300ZX 1990-1996 and 240SX 1995-1998 front wheels, Sentra 1991-1999 front and rear wheels. * 40222-RS045 60mm length, fits 300ZX 1990-1996 and 240SX 1995-1998 front wheels, Sentra 1991-1999 front and rear wheels.

Confused me even more, I have no idea which one to order.. Length wise and model wise.. (40222-RS025? could that be it?)

I've got a 92 240sx. Help me out..

well, unless you have spacers behind your wheels you are throwing away your money to buy the nismo studs, the only difference between the nismo studs and replacement studs is that they are longer for running special wheels or wheel spacers. The diff between the 50mm and 60mm is just that the 60mm ones are 10mm longer, and the two part numbers you listed are different stud sizes. Your best bet is just replacingthe stripped stud with a replacement one that will only cost you about $2 or so......that is unless you are going to be running wheel spacers or youjust want to throw away $60

I will be putting in Tien tie rods so maybe I will need more space on the bolts, for spacers. Plus don't you need more room anyway for brake upgrades?

well, you have to have wheels wih the correct backspacing for brake upgrades or run spacers, however the proper spacers that you need to run already come with the correct bolts in the kit. Be forewarned that even the best wheel spacers will amplify anything that is even the slightest bit out of balance and cause a big vibration if everything isnt in perfect balance. If you are going to do a brake upgrade then save the money for some wheels too if you want to do it right IMO. I am running H&R 15mm pacers on the front of my car now to clear my coilovers and everytime something gets the slightest bit out of balance in the fron it will just about shake the steering wheel out of my hand. Also the tein tie rods will have no effect on what length of lug bolts you need.

Yup, I know the tie rods have nothing to do with the bolt length, I figure since I'm replacing all the parts why not just do it all at once. I already have rims for my car, its about time to take it off for the winter though. Break upgrades I definitely want to do, but.... If spacers are gonna cause that much problem, then... I'd rather just get some Endless pads and stick with my stock calipers.

well, depending on what type of wheels you have brake caliper clearance may not be an issue, a lot of aftermarket wheels are made to clear bigger calipers already, but if you run stock wheels in the winter they definately wont clear. I know that another option if you are worried about clearance is the infiniti q45 brake swap which is still a pretty good upgrade. Reguardless, the bottom line is you really dont need the nismo studs unless you are already running spacers or special wheels. And I dont want t scare you away from using spacers altogether, its just that they are really only to be considered if your options are very limited, for example if you do a coilover conversion like I did and didnt know it would require new wheels or spacers. If you are planning on doing something like an expensive brake upgrade then save the extra bux to do it right because in the long run you will be much happier with the end results
