The second half of the Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel movie critic show has also died.

RIP, Roger! I hope you and Gene are enjoying watching movies together in Heaven.

By far my favorite film critic. He's saved me hundreds on tickets for crappy movies and has a unique perspective on the world. I really enjoyed his commentary on how computers in movies and TV shows are so insultingly fake.

I like this quote from him,
“I am utterly bored by celebrity interviews. Most celebrities are devoid of interest.” -Roger Ebert

I remember listening to him! He always had great and honest opinions. Who was his partner on that show, Ebert and Roker? I know Im close...

The original two were Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel (1946 - 1999) for the shows "Sneak Previews", "At the Movies", "Siskel & Ebert" etc. ... the others came after Gene Siskel died in 1999, somewhat unexpectedly.

The shows were never quite the same after Siskel died ... they had a competitive camaraderie that was the underpinning of the shows.

Oh, yeah. I forgot to mention that when Gene Siskel died, after going through a number of guest critics on the show, the permanent replacement was "Roeper". :)
